Men flirting on a word game - annoying

So - I recently started playing Words with Friends and have been really annoyed with the times male players have sent me weird messages.

My profile picture isn't particularly attractive- it is a silly one

No woman on the game has messaged me except to say well done

I am so annoyed that I have deleted the app and I was really enjoying (aside from the creeps)

AIBU to want to play a game without some men being weird and creepy. I know IANBU but I am just so frustrated

Ha! Game on, MrsG. I was not brought up in a household which “let” the kids win, so I’m used to losing anyway 😢

I've been playing for over ten years and I go through phases of winning all the time to being beaten all the time. When I'm playing badly I blame the algorithm

I get this too! I actually think it is why the women never message each other either. I mean I am there to play scrabble too but I do feel weird when you have played the same person a few times and I feel like I should say thanks or hi again etc. But I don’t because I am worried they will think I’m a weirdo!

Ps I just stopped playing any men. That solved it.

I've been shocked by scrabble Go! I even thought it must be the same man as they all start 'Hello dear'. Who has had the US military doctor serving with the UN in Yemen? or the Christian offshore engineer? I have tried saying 'to be honest I'm just here to play scrabble thanks' but they do persist... And some of them clearly have no interest in playing the game at all as they just put 2 letter words constantly. Why not just use a dating app?

DH asked why I was getting so worked up, then I showed him the messages! Then he got it, every single one, how are you, are you married, I've work in the oil industry etc etc.

Now I just ignore them til they resign and my stats go up.

And they're all REALLY rubbish at Scrabble!

Totally agree with the pp tho, there are some women. I've played loads of really good games with, one of them has a gorgeous cat in her profile but I don't want to message her and compliment her cat because we're clearly all so sick of the weirdo men.

Who knew online Scrabble would be so fraught with sexual politics!

I've only had one dodgy message and I just deleted the game. I've become friends with one woman on WWF - don't know her from Eve yet we chat about various things. Have exchanged a few other messages with folk but nothing major.

I have to say though that I have made some good male friends on WWF! And yes I'm happily married!

I've played 3 men for a decade and over the years we've eventually chatted and it's led on to being FB buddies. All 3 are married themselves and they've been nothing but 'normal.' Same with 2 women - we've played for many years and eventually just became friends

I'm having a nice long form chat with a chap who lives in New York, it's like having a pen pal - he has been telling me all about the covid situation there..he seems to like hearing my news too! My photo is of a stream and I've never had any weirdos contact me!

Now I just ask if they are a scammer...they usually resign, I don’t see why I should because it affects my standing.

While I’m here I have to share as none of my friends play WWF2.... today I scored 123 points on one word! I even took a screen shot- I know, what a saddo.
I am so chuffed! For a while I wasn’t even getting double figures on individual words!

I get it on there all the time, they are scammers who want you to download hangouts. They almost all have great jobs abroad but single dads and desperately need money.
I used to entertain myself my winding them up and they were all the same. Then I grew up lol and stopped and just block/ignore now

Loads of allegedly single men and/or men allegedly working away from home, all with a natty chat up line about how beautiful I look in my photo or some such rubbish. I only play with women now.

Scrabble go is ridiculous for it. The majority work away- normally in oil or engineering.
The ones I like best that start hey you look very beautiful, hello? Hello? Why are you ignoring me. Then they forfeit and flounce and it looks like I’m really good at scrabble

Slightly off topic but if anyone hasn’t seen the Daisy May Cooper ‘Captain Jon’ scammer she wound up then check it out, she’s brilliant. It’s all on her instagram but also got in the metro at one point.

My photo is an animal, my username gender neutral. I once had the most vile pornographic ranting message from someone I'd never spoken to.
I don't open any messages now.
