Hi everyone!

Hoping to ask for help in tracing another lamb teddy for my daughter, she really loves it like no other teddy!

Lamby does have a label but it is just a fire warning and instructions on washing.

Here is Lamby-

So glad you found new Lambys! This thread has reminded me that I must try to locate a spare Black Rat or two. Although I'm not sure I could ever get the replacement tatty enough to pass for the original Black Rat...

GingerLemonTea · 17/08/2020 23:50

Well done Peapod!

HouchinBawbags · 18/08/2020 00:01

Omg this thread just made me think of DD's "Moose-nu". She's almost 14 and still has the raggedy old thing in her bed. It's disgusting and threadbare.
Sooo... out of curiosity I googled it and found one for the first time ever in almost 14 years, on eBay. Brand new with tags despite it being produced in 2007!

Bought it!

I'm so gonna mess with her head now and secretly swap it in the middle of the night.

Maybe I'll wait til she loses another tooth (yes at 13 she still has quite a few baby teeth left!) and I'll leave NewMooseNu instead of cash. That'll teach her to say she doesn't believe in the tooth fairy GrinGrin

Elmo311 · 18/08/2020 00:05

@shreddednips Good luck 😀

I think that soft toy companies should just sell 'aged' versions of the teddy's, would make our lives easier!

@HouchinBawbags DO IT.

Report back here!

I'm also keen to see a photo of this teddy. Love the name. Haha

Ds (9) currently has the original, the spare and the insurance edition of his cuddly in bed. He only realised I had the third one this year and it was funny to look at what he did to the first two compared to the pristine third one. They've had a tough life.

HouchinBawbags · 18/08/2020 05:59

@Elmo311 I will definitely report back. This is going to be fun

Will also post pics of both old and new Moose-nu.

Just have to wait 2-5 days delivery. Ugh. Amazon Prime has spoiled me by never making me wait.

Elmo311 · 18/08/2020 07:36

@HouchinBawbags I look forward to it.

I agree about being spoilt by Amazon Prime. The Lambys don't arrive until the end of August.

There's a business idea there in selling convincingly worn replacement teddies, you'll make millions. Although you'd need an army of unhygienic small children to achieve that well-loved smell that never quite comes out even with a bath in the washing machine. I think the smell is part of black rat's appeal to DS Confused

thegreenlight · 18/08/2020 08:49

Goodness, we have Eggy. A jelly cat rabbit bought from TKmaxx (why always TKmaxx!) he lost him all the time, the desperate searches were countless over the years. He went missing for nearly a week and I managed to track down a replacement for £49 on eBay Sad. I bought it and then we found original Eggy at the bottom of the car bucket Confused. The new one didn’t cut it anyway - not malformed enough and far too fluffy!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 18/08/2020 09:19

This is lovely! It reminds me of a couple of years ago when my great-niece left Bunny on a train, and the resulting Facebook posts, £100 reward offered for finding Bunny, which a Croydon paper picked up - all to no avail. So glad you have found Lamby.

KTD27 · 18/08/2020 09:29

Oh we had this with bunny. Craftily bought another to have in case original bunny needed replacing. Also here’s a tip, swap them in and out every so often so they both get as worn as the other.
Here’s a better tip - DONT let your children see you do this as now she has to have two bunnies and my replacement has become just as precious as the original. Sigh.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 18/08/2020 09:49

When my ds went to uni his Doggy went with him. He was sharing a house with his mates. They all agreed a pact, that whatever they did for laughs, they were not allowed to touch their respective comfort toys. And they never did.

Dd 14 now has the most disgusting threadbare rabbits. But they still go to bed with her every night.

PinkSnowAndStars · 18/08/2020 10:13

I’m so impressed you found it. Wish I could find the one my son lost of mine. I’ve tried everything and aged 33 I still miss it

Painsnail · 18/08/2020 10:18

We have several of the favourite toy. I rotate them quite regularly so they end up the same level of "loved" (or just equally rancid)

Say Lamby’s gone to Tenerife.

Worked for us. Grin

SoPanny · 18/08/2020 10:52

...and will be coming back!

(Obviously)

Elmo311 · 18/08/2020 10:58

@SoPanny haha! I could try that!

I love the comments on this thread! Thanks everyone and some very wise words!

I will alternate the Lambys, and I will make sure I'm sneaky!

It's so cute how much she loves Lamby, her face lights up if she's left 'him' somewhere and I show her where he is!

So cute.

Glad you found one. I bought a £2 comforter for my baby in primark and it has ended up being his absolute favourite thing. Thought I should get a spare. Found one on EBay and they were charging £20! Had to buy it though.

HowayPet · 18/08/2020 12:32

In my case replacements didn’t work, dd still has her “comforter’s”,.... Notice Plural?

She’s had it since a tiny baby, I bought a replacement many years ago to try and get rid of the original but she knew straight away. New one got added to old one so now there are two. A few years later Tried again with two new ones to replace manky ones. Again Didn’t happen!
They got cast aside and are still in the loft unused!

Shes 17 now and they are the most disgusting manky threadbare things you ever saw, haven’t been allowed to wash them for about 8 + years!
She used to sit and pine at the washing machine until they came out and then would cry that they smelled wrong!

Would have been so much easier if I’d bought extra and rotated them from the start!

They still sleep on her pillow!

MrsToothyBitch · 18/08/2020 17:20

Glad you found spares! I'm 30 and Sam Dog has been with me every where, still lives on my bed most days. Although he lives a more sedate and hygienic life these days than he used to in myhis youth, I'm too afraid to wash him now.Blush

HouchinBawbags · 20/08/2020 08:30

Do you think 13yo DD will notice the difference? GrinGrinGrin
