AIBU to burn this monstrosity!?

DP insists that there is nothing wrong with this once gleaming white towel. Even strong bleach won't save it. He also puts the milk in first when he makes a cup of tea so maybe it's a dp problem 🤔🤣.

Sorry that’s one that’s officially relegated to floor cloth( cut up)/ dog towel/ towel on floor next to paddling pool.

Milk goes on first if you’re “common” my granny used to say. It means you can’t afford proper no crack china.

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 16/08/2020 10:21

It's a big towel, and probably just at that comfortably worn in stage, so I can see why he might be reluctant to let it go.....

Milk first if teapot tea, last if bag in mug tea. cos it definitely tastes different.

dudsville · 16/08/2020 10:23

It would be useful for dogs or to have in case of an emergency large scale water spillage.

rabbitheadlights · 16/08/2020 10:24

DP now has his own personal towel!

SuzieCarmichael · 16/08/2020 10:25

The Dylon washing machine pods are v useful for faded / stained towels ...

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/08/2020 10:26

Milk in first - social faux pas. If the Queen pops in don’t let him pour. Wink

That would be a pet towel or used for cleaning.

RoadworksAgain · 16/08/2020 10:31

That would only be used as a dog towel in my house.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2020 10:41

Nothing astonish laundry bleach wouldn’t fix. Not Vanish though, they still test that on animals.

FlamedToACrisp · 16/08/2020 10:49

Grin Oh come on OP, that looks lovely and clean - what's your problem?

justaperson · 16/08/2020 10:50

Dylon...the one you just chuck in the washing machine. I've rescued lots of towels with that... works really well.

WhereTheCrawdadsSing · 16/08/2020 10:50

Agree with pps; cut it into rags! Useful for cleaning.

FlamedToACrisp · 16/08/2020 10:51

How about keeping it in the car for emergency screen-wiping?

RJnomore1 · 16/08/2020 10:51

Well burning him is a bit extreme but if definitely make him replace the towel.

That would be put on the floor when I drain the washing machine.

Fatted · 16/08/2020 10:55

YABU to have purchased a white towel in the first place!! Unless of course it was gifted and then I will let you off.

I'd keep it, but I colour my own hair and would add it to my hair dye collection. I definitely wouldn't be putting it out when guests come.

HunkyPunk · 16/08/2020 10:59

If you put milk in before the water for tea-bag tea, it stops the tea in the tea-bag fully percolating (or 'steeping' as my Dad used to say, and I still do!) and it ends up really milky.

Elieza · 16/08/2020 11:20

You have four choices I think:

  1. Keep as is and frighten the neighbours especially on washing day when it’s on show on the line!

2)Cut into rags or use for defrosting fridges, bicycle maintenance, dog drying or suchlike.

3)issue very dark lensed sunglasses to all family and visitors so they can’t see the discoloured bits of said towel on entering the room it’s in.

  1. Dye it. If you dye it don’t do it in the washing machine as it dyes the rubber bit round the door Shock

So do it outside in a bucket with salt stirring with an old wooden spoon (which will dye too). As dark a colour as you can to hide the stain. And wash alone for a long time after as they dye may yet seep onto other clothes washed with it

LakieLady · 16/08/2020 11:28

Napisan might sort that towel.

It's rescued very muddy white jeans of mine that I thought were beyond help.

washinglinefauxpas · 16/08/2020 14:41

I should caveat what I'm saying by acknowledging I will be in the minority, but I agree with your DH.

OK, the towel looks disgusting, but it's just stained, it doesn't mean it's not clean and perfectly usable as a towel. If he's happy to use it, I say let him. The habit of throwing things away just because they don't look their best is crap for the environment.

Right, speech over. Sorry everyone. Agree with you on the milk in tea thing though, he's definitely in the wrong on that one!

Bluntness100 · 16/08/2020 14:44

Just buy some Dylon white clothes dye and re dye it.

RowboatsinDisguise · 16/08/2020 14:45

Thy would be relegated to a ‘shed towel’ in our house. Shed towels are good for cleaning up sweat after/during turbo sessions, cleaning bikes (most have an oil stain or two), and general wiping up.

MrsT1405 · 16/08/2020 14:49

Sorry, you don't buy white towels, you nick them from hotels etc, so given you stole it, I'd bin it.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 16/08/2020 14:54

I would keep it but it wouldn't go out on my washing line Grin. I have a towel that is stained with hair dye and also has white bleach marks but I dry it indoors it's not allowed out on the washing lineBlush.

Pasithea · 16/08/2020 14:58

I would never use sush a towel for my dogs , horse but if the DH wants to. Meh.
