Is new tenant being a CF over free bed?

So I am pretty sure I ANBU but asking just in case I've had a brain fart here...

I moved out of rented last month, and a new girl (NG) took over the lease. It's unfurnished but I didn't need the old bed, so offered to leave it... And she was keen at the time. I moved out 1st aug, leaving the bed frame (we cleared everything else and left it spotless).

Now NG has bought a mattress that doesn't fit the frame we left, and wants me to come back, dismantle (!) and remove the bedframe we left. For context, we gave it to her for free, and I said at the time that it was perfectly useable but not new... and she saw this bed during the viewing.

AIBU to tell her to FO? How politely do I tell her to FO?

No longer anything to do with you OP.

Wrong size Mattress for bed.

"sorry to hear that CF. Feel free to get rid of it. Bye."

'Hi, oh that's really kind of you to think of me first, but I really don't need it. It was a gift, not a loan. Thanks so much for the offer! I'm sure someone on gumtree will snap it up.'

@sunglassesonthetable

I was wondering this @Carrotcakefiend* was it an IKEA bed and, if so, did you tell her this?

I do think it's her own fault and she's BU however there could be a grey area if she thought it was a single/double but it was an IKEA size then I can understand the message, although I feel you would have disclosed this and she would have mentioned to you in the message.*

Grey Area????

TAPEMEASURE🙄

If someone says "here I'll leave you my double bed frame" why would you measure it before buying a double mattress?! Are you that anal?? I've never measured a bed before buying a mattress if I know the size of the bed. Therefore possibly being told the bed is a double frame when it's from IKEA could have caused a problem.

As mentioned, I'm on the OPs side in this, however yes, I believe there is a grey area if the person was given an IKEA frame and not forewarned about this.

If it's a matter of buying a double mattress and having a king size frame, then yes, definitely NG fault. But many sane, normal people wouldn't measure a frame if told it's a double due to the standardised measurements Hmm

Yeah I must be that anal. cheers.

But I've never had a mattress that doesn't fit a bed frame🙄

I'm one of those insane people who've shopped at Ikea though.

Go and look at what size duvet covers are on offer. There are a perplexing number of different sizes of double and single. I can't tell just by looking whether a bed is 4'6" or 5'. I could have a good guess but I wouldn't know. Mattresses cost hundreds of pounds - why wouldn't you measure the frame before committing to that kind of money?
