I think the concentration camps is a joke..... hopefully....

Crabeyes · 13/08/2020 19:54

No idea what those are Hmm

sixlemons · 13/08/2020 19:55

@Xenia

Yes, it was appalling in February as is the Coronavirus Act 2020 - the main legislation and all the regs since. I have been against them all although most people seem perfectly happy with them - sleep walking into a police state.
Never mind a police state, this government couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.
catsarecute · 13/08/2020 19:56

don't you just love a good conspiracy theory Hmm ridiculous

itsgettingweird · 13/08/2020 19:56
@Gancanny obviously not all relevant to covid but reads beyond belief!
Did someone actually send this to a school or were they showing a template letter for loads of parents to send?

I can imagine HT nationally don't have time to read such bolloxs but at the same time could probably do with some lighthearted comedy relief right now!

iklboo · 13/08/2020 20:01

Is this the one that comes printed on tin foil?

boltzmannbrains · 13/08/2020 20:04

As if they can afford to do that. It costs a lot of money to detain someone.

Exactly. I hear horror stories about people with severe mental health problems who are actively suicidal, yet who are sent home to await a call from the community MH team because there are no beds.

They aren’t suddenly going to start chucking people into locked hospital wards for having a slight cough.

Somebody's wathched too much Years and Years:
Dame Ema Thompson as PM

OP lobs handgranade and dissapears Hmm

Pacif1cDogwood · 13/08/2020 20:08

EmMa - sorry, melady.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 13/08/2020 20:13

I wish people would properly read it, try and understand it, read the repeated use of immigration officer as a hint, then apply logic to it all and then draw conclusions.

No headteacher is going to snatch your kid and refuse to tell you where they are.
No police officer is going to pick up your kid from the park and refuse to give them back.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 13/08/2020 20:14

*"We have had confirmation from the DfE and DHSC that a parent, carer or legal guardian has to be present for a screening to take place under these powers. They also stated that:

“It is not true that Public Health Officers have the power to screen and assess without a parent or carer present. This power can only be exercised in the presence of an individual with responsibility for the child. The responsible adult under Schedule 21 is a person with parental responsibility for the child within the meaning of the Children Act 1989 or a person who has custody or charge of the child for the time being.

In the extremely rare case that 1) these powers are being used and 2) the even rarer case that a child does not have a parent, carer or legal guardian, a Public Health Officer can decide who is the most appropriate adult to be present for a screening. At no point will a child be screened without the most appropriate adult present"*

TERRIFYING - I thought this was going to be about an algorithm deciding A-level grades.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 13/08/2020 20:25

My brain hurts from reading that Facebook post.

sixlemons · 13/08/2020 20:58

It's not terrifying that if demanded by the state, all adults and children MUST allow biological samples to be taken, and MUST take a coronavirus test?

No, it's not terrifying at all.

If the general public could be relied upon to help prevent the spread of a global pandemic, then the legislation wouldn't be needed.

pasteldechocolateconchispa · 13/08/2020 21:12

I hope Dominic C isn’t driving the coach full of children there unless he’s had another eye test of course.

ALongHardWinter · 13/08/2020 21:17

JesusInTheCabbageVan
I thought exactly the same thing but didn't want to admit it for fear of being called a SPAG snob!
