Not an aibu really just looking for some sympathy Grin

I feel like I’m genuinely dying.

Sympathies, mastitis really is awful. Have you got antibiotics? I ended up in intensive care with sepsis after waiting too long to see a dr when I had it!

ShandlersWig · 13/08/2020 11:24

Oh that is shit. You can have all my sympathies!

Msloverlover · 13/08/2020 11:32

Oh god I had it 4 times. Always the same duct. I tried everything to avoid it but I’m just prone it seems. By the 4th time I was calling the doctor within an hour of symptoms. The best thing about it was how quickly it responded to antibiotics. I’d be feeling better within about 2 hours. It always made me feel soooo emotional and sorry for myself! You have my sympathies x

5050not · 13/08/2020 20:20

I’ve had three antibiotics and sooo many ibruprofen but still in absolute agony. Can’t sleep, can’t lie down or anything I’m just writhing around in pain. Feel like such a wimp but I’m so tempted to go to a&e. This is by far the worst I’ve ever had it!

What's your temp looking like? I ended up with sepsis after a nasty bout of mastitis, came on super quick too - I felt flu-ey when I was told to go to a and e and by the time I got there I was on the verge of collapsing. If you are worried, I'd say go.

Same here!
SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/08/2020 20:33

Also came on to warn about sepsis. Not something to mess about with. Go to A&E.

5050not · 13/08/2020 20:36

It’s currently reading 37.6, not sure how bad that is?

OP posts:
Beanbag12 · 13/08/2020 20:36

I had the flu-ey symptoms too! It was lucky my health visitor was visiting that day as I had no inkling it was mastitis. Antibiotics kicked in really quickly for me, so if they’re not working for you I would be inclined to seek further help. You have my sympathies, it really is the worst xx

5050not · 13/08/2020 20:38

Just checked again, 38.5!

OP posts:
rosiejaune · 13/08/2020 20:41

Try soya lecithin to prevent it in future.

Starheart · 13/08/2020 20:41

Definitely go to a and e . I was referred to a specialist great clinic after not responding to anti biotics .

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/08/2020 20:45

Don’t mess around with mastitis. I ended up being blue lighted to hospital and spending a week in intensive care. I’d only had symptoms since the previous evening!

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/08/2020 21:06

I think with that temp and not responding to the antibiotics I really would go in.

Motoko · 13/08/2020 21:09

38.5 is getting high. Should be around 36.

Go to A&E.

EarringsandLipstick · 13/08/2020 21:17

Echoing other posters - you need to get further help. I'm not in UK, in Ireland you'd call out out-of-hours GP service (& pay quite a lot for it, remember not a system equivalent to NHS) but guessing a&e is best option in your case.

Hope you'll be ok. 💐

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/08/2020 21:19

Don't go through out of hours. I did that with my first bout of mastitis, ended up sitting in a waiting room feeling like death for over an hour, just to get a prescription for antibiotics that I then had to wait til the morning to get filled.

A&E, unless pain and temp have come down significantly.

livingthegoodlife · 13/08/2020 21:22

Another one who ended up in hospital with sepsis. Go to a&e.

Rosehassometoes · 13/08/2020 22:08

I got sepsis too. Definitely go in.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 13/08/2020 22:32

I never got sepsis, but the pain was excruciating.
I used Paracetamol, ibuprofen and zip lock bags of uncooked rice that sat in the freezer, and then I'd hold on my boob then re cool in the freezer.
It reduced my milk supply a bit but the relief of the cold was good.
Friend used cabbage leaves (cabbage stored in fridge) It was recommended by the LLL leader at the time. Worked but smelly.

Zanina · 13/08/2020 22:51

Hi just logged in for the first time as I hope I can help. When you feel a blocked duct, you have to position your child so that the top of their mouth is on the duct (because the top of the mouth is what forces the milk out). You keep offering them to feed until the it's unblocked. I take 600mg of ibuprofen (last 6 hours) which can help with the swelling. I find that when you feed the child in that position the blocked duct fixes within a few hours x

Zanina · 13/08/2020 22:58

But just to echo others, if you're in agony even after being on antibiotics then please go to a&e. Chances are they will double dose your antibiotics but better to be examined at least. Hope you feel better soon xx

5050not · 14/08/2020 13:35

Managed to get to sleep after taking 2x paracetamol and 2x ibruprofen. Woken up today feeling slightly better but still very foggy/dizzy and confused. Breast is even more red than yesterday. I’m now 6 antibiotics down! Not sure if the dizziness is lack of food (haven’t eaten since Wednesday) or that I forgot to take my antidepressants yesterday. Probably a mix of it all. Ugh wish they would kick in quick, I feel so weak! Sad

OP posts:
5050not · 14/08/2020 13:36

Also haven’t showered since Wednesday because I’m literally unable to stand for more that 10 seconds Sad

Please go to a&e. You aren't responding to anti biotics, you need urgent care
