This has appeared around my bites 7 days after being bitten ... Anyone know why it is not healing and what the concentric circles are?

Have you been in woodland, long grass, or heathland recently? Or somewhere where there may be deer?

The bites appeared after being on long grass, marshland. 9 days ago.

Since been to woodland near deer yes.

Information here on the recommended antibiotics for Lyme disease: cks.nice.org.uk/topics/lyme-disease/

I hope you feel better soon - lyme and cellulitis are both no fun at all

Throckmorton · 10/08/2020 13:51

To add to the above - erythema migrans rash is the bullseye rash you appear to have

BSJohnson · 11/08/2020 13:48

Have you got another opinion yet, op?
My mother contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite, and developed permanent damage, so please do follow this up urgently.

I’ve had that type of reaction to insect bites (not ticks) so the doctor could be correct with cellulitis. Also worse in hot weather. I’d keep an eye on it and any other symptoms.

Thanks all!
This is today’s picture 😂 4 antibiotics yesterday and 3 so far today.
It’s unbelievable really! It was so bad for 10/11 days and now look!!

Asst. Pract. Messaged me and told me to call back if no improvement in around 3 days. It’s improved a lot in just one day. The huge patch of swelling has gone. The two (nipple shaped!) circles are still sore but much paler!

Usually you know from where and when you were bitten whether it could be a tick. If you are sure it was a fly then it’s an allergic reaction (skeecher syndrome). what you needed were antihistamines/steroids. The antibiotics for Lyme disease are really important but great not to take them unnecessarily.

WhattheHhashappened · 11/08/2020 19:24

I’ve got penicillin- not the antibiotic for Lyme but it seems to be working so far. Fingers crossed x

Can you get the Lyme antibiotics anyway? Just is case? I’m so paranoid about it. I live in a city but the city parks have loads of ticks.

SurferRona · 11/08/2020 19:40

Yes, I get these from midge or mossie bites- skeecher syndrome is right as per @QualityFeet Antibiotics on occasion, getting oral antihistamines into you ASAP is most important. How do you know you weren’t bitten just before they came up OP? I don’t know I’ve been bitten until the itch starts and those rings come up!

EmmetEmma · 11/08/2020 19:55

I had exactly the same looking bites, and also was told it was cellulitis. I worried it was Lyme too because of the distinct rings. The antibiotics cleared it up. I still occasionally worry it was Lyme.

MissRainbowBrite · 11/08/2020 20:01

I had the same last year after a visit to some woods. Mine looked exactly the same as yours and cleared up really fast with antibiotics.

WhattheHhashappened · 11/08/2020 20:01

The centre spots (Very sore & red) have been there for 11 days. (When I was bitten) The swelling & bruising only for the last 4 days.

Please push for Lyme antibiotics, the fact that the rash is clearing doesn’t mean anything. I have Lyme disease and had to order my own antibiotics.

gingerbiscuits · 13/08/2020 10:07

Ooh, nasty tic bites - get to the Doctor ASAP for some antibiotics. You can develop Lyme Disease & be very poorly.
