It’s become an obsession since ruining three pairs of trainers and I’ve had four lots delivered and none of them are right. I know there are bigger things going on in the world right now but HELP. I need a pair that I can step in and step out without touching

Joules and fitflop both do short ankle wellies. Is it actual wellies you want or waterproof walking boots?

Hugepeppapigfan · 09/08/2020 21:00

Bogs

MsRinky · 09/08/2020 21:01

It's a nightmare. I have a combination of chunky calves and high arches, and have given up on wellies.

CherryPavlova · 09/08/2020 21:06

Lakeland do some. Their flowery ones are wide and mid calf. I bought some for my mother in law who has muscular calves and is getting stiffer.

If you don’t need full boots, Joules do welly shoes that you can slip on and off to go 8nto garden or walk the dog in the rain.

MrsWooster · 09/08/2020 21:09

Im blessed with a brutish calf and swear by Asda bog standard wellies which slip on and off easily. I also add a supportive insole to make them even more comfortable. Can walk miles with no problem other than laziness

Bigsighall · 09/08/2020 21:17

Try rigger boots. I spend my life putting boots on and off and these work best ime!

sosickofarseholes · 09/08/2020 21:18

Thé joules ones are difficult to get on and off, I want ones I can just put my feet in and walk off and then take off by doing the thing where you stand on them

I’m a farmers wife so I understand the importance of a pair of reliable, comfortable and long lasting wellies!! Grin

I’d recommend Aigle wellies, they are midrange price wise at around £90 to £130. How much were you looking to spend?

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/08/2020 21:30

Buy a boot remover for £5 from Go Outdoors for hands free boot removal. It's life changing but I seem to have lost mine and need a new one before the autumn.

Parmavioletgin1 · 09/08/2020 21:31

Im also a fan of rigger boots in winter and waterproof walking shoes in summer as the last attempt with wellies felt like I was ripping my calf off (in fact the last time I wore wellies I had to cut them off).

sosickofarseholes · 09/08/2020 21:32

I’d like some that are perfect but cost a fiver but appreciate it’s probably about £100 to get a great pair

I have these which do exactly that. I went through the Joules and Hunter routes but these are brilliant. Slightly lower cut and easy to get on and off. Also very comfortable.

And cheap! £17.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 09/08/2020 21:37

Buy £5 ones half a size too big, and pad them out inside with insoles and thick socks. They'll then be roomy enough around the ankles to slide off OK. Wear legwarmers inside if they flap about your calves.

BikeRunSki · 09/08/2020 21:38

Dunlop work for me, from Arco.
Very much function over beaut.

Asdf12345 · 09/08/2020 21:38

Agile parcours with full length zip. Feel like wearing trainers but will set you back around £200.

Lolalovesmarmite · 09/08/2020 21:48

I’m a farmer so live in my wellies. I love my Aigle Parcours 2 pair. Incredibly comfortable, easy to take on and off and neither too hot nor too cold. They make me happy.

user1497787065 · 09/08/2020 22:50

I have short Hunters for this precise reason. I'm on my third or fourth pair now.

SoddingWeddings · 09/08/2020 22:59

Have a look at horse mucking out boots. Google "Velcro wellies" and you'll see lots of short leg boots which do up at the ankle. I have them for dog walking - they come half way up my calf. I can't wear normality wellies due to a very dodgy foot from multiply breaks and sprains so need them to be supportive. Love mine - £18 from Trago!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 09/08/2020 23:03

Aigle seem to be better for high arches, and Tommy Hilfiger do ankle wellies that are pretty solidly made, too.

Flupibass · 09/08/2020 23:08

I have muck boots- very happy with them. The ordinary sort not arctic. They are perfect for all seasons and have very grippy soles. Also can just step into them and back out!

livelyredjellybean · 09/08/2020 23:24

Try the Dunlop Purofort I think they’re called... stupidly chunky soles but wide leg fittings. My husband loves his and so bought me a pair too. I find them too big but sounds ideal for what you’re after! They’re around the £90 mark I think.

Muckboots are super easy to get off
