I've had quotes from £1,800 for a composite door (Solidor) to £7,000 for a designer timber door (London Door Co). It is literally a door. No side windows or anything. It's a mid-terrace house, 1920s, nothing special.

I despair. The cheaper door isn't even especially nice. I've looked on eBay out of desperation but there's only one door that's the right size and that's far too modern for our tastes.

Keeping our current door is not an option as it's falling apart.

Depending on fanlight and sidelight a composite door should be £500-1500 + vat estimate without fitting, unless its a super special. Source: I work for a bespoke timber doorset company.

Jokie · 08/08/2020 20:15

We've been looking for one at the moment and seeing everything from 700-3500 without labour and fitting costs.

Tretchikoff · 08/08/2020 20:16

1k three years ago in Edinburgh for composite.

Garby · 08/08/2020 20:20

£3.2 k for a front door and side door. It was a lot but I love my front door, it makes me feel really safe and it looks so nice

mummyof2boys30 · 08/08/2020 20:23

Northern ireland but 1000 for door and change glass in side window. It's faulty though so waiting on them to replace it 😭

Flatpackback · 08/08/2020 20:35

A chap from Everest gave us a quote for £10K for a wooden door, having a laugh or what ? Needless to say I sent him packing. Eventually paid £3K with another company. Included a full height side window about 2/3 size of the door.

crowsfeet57 · 08/08/2020 20:45

£1800 for fully fitted composite door last year.

I love it!

JacobReesMogadishu · 09/08/2020 06:59

I also upgraded the lock in mine to an Ultion smart lock. Which is amazon. I unlock the door with my phone now, no need for a key.

BikeRunSki · 09/08/2020 07:09

£1300, composite door, frame, side glazing, Ultion locks, fitting and custom colour. West Yorkshire, from West Yorkshire Windows.

BikeRunSki · 09/08/2020 07:11

@JacobReesMogadishu - wow! We didn’t have that option. What happens if your phone o is flat? Is there also a key?

LemonSquash94 · 09/08/2020 07:25

£1,300 for a door that met my joiner husbands safety spec, and looked good too.

Apparently I picked the most expensive one... Blush

WarmHeyerette · 09/08/2020 07:33

£1200 for Solidor and fanlight incl fitting. London. Waited 10 years for a design I liked to appear, ie modern and a subtle colour. Worth every penny for heat and sound insulation.

Penners99 · 09/08/2020 08:33

£975 for a composite door. Local firm, East Yorkshire.

Pandapotato · 09/08/2020 08:45

£1k for a solidor fitted with frame and top window panel.
Not London.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 09/08/2020 08:47

Our front and back doors are composite and made by Rockdoor. They are high strength, very secure and cost £850 each in 2007.

Queenie8 · 09/08/2020 08:51

£1400 for composite door with long glass panel, long handle, letter box and uliton lock, turn lock rather than key hole on the inside, plus fan light above, and decorative edging/finish on the inside. (I'm home counties)

Most composite doors are made to measure.

The cost is also the fitting, and that the doors are secure.

AlwaysLatte · 09/08/2020 08:53

£5k but it is very heavy solid oak and a real feature. If you do go for oak though beware that you will need to have lots of adjustments made as the wood shrinks and moves!

Shoxfordian · 09/08/2020 09:02

Ours was about 1400 from safestyle
We pay it off interest free each month
Very happy with it

FudgeBrownie2019 · 09/08/2020 09:05

Composite front and back doors last year were £2800.

Aurea · 09/08/2020 09:21

£3000 for a bespoke Victorian hardwood door with a fanlight above made by a local joiner.

@aurea that's lovely!

TrickyD · 09/08/2020 10:59

Fabulous Aurea. Perfect style and colour.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 09/08/2020 11:01

Over £400,000 but it was attached to a house when we bought it - fortunately Wink

bungaloid · 09/08/2020 11:15

About 2.5k, bespoke local joinery job in accoya wood. In the SE. Just picked a picture from the Internet and they made the exact same design.
