Would your Mum do the tiktok challenge of lying on the floor injured?

If you watch tiktok, I'm sure you've seen loads of this, where the son/daughter/grandson rings up their Mum/Grandma and says the police are following them home as they were caught speeding and that they've give the excuse that Ma etc is injured and that's why they're speeding. Amazing the amount who would do it!

I know for a fact that my mother wouldn't do it for me, though I suspect she would do it for my brother or sister!

My mum is the worst liar so I don’t think she would. She’d do a lot for me, but lying to the police because I was doing something stupid, no.

And when she found out it was a ridiculous prank she wouldn’t be impressed!

I hate pranks like this anyway

QuestionableMouse · 03/08/2020 21:20

No. Mine would lock the door and tell me to get on with it.

LucyWarlowsRightHand · 03/08/2020 21:23

@Bunnybigears

No my Mum would tell me to tell the truth and face the consequences. That's what I would tell my kids as well.
Same here. My mother would also give me a long lecture at how surprised she was that I would even think of telling that sort of lie to the police, let alone expecting her to lie for me. I would never, ever hear the end of it.

And nor would my kids Grin

Kaiserin · 03/08/2020 21:32

What an odious prank. Emotional blackmail is not funny.

BubblyBarbara · 03/08/2020 21:40

I would always support my children over the police and think it’s weird if you wouldn’t. I always told my children to say as little as possible to them and only to ask if they were being detained or not. Police are not your friends.

HolyForkinShirt · 03/08/2020 21:45

@Lookyloo

I would do it for my dd.

The thing about it is, is that the grandma/Mum don't know that it's a windup. They all seem to do it though!

This is true. Although the only the ones who actually do it make it onto SM. I imagine there are lots of failed attempts.

My mum would know the challenge so wouldn't do it. I imagine my Nan would do it without thinking about it, in a complete panic/fluster. I'll test my theory

I think it’s weird to condone speeding for no good reason. The road rules are there for everyone’s safety.

What a sad outlook. I was always taught the opposite as a child. Eg, Always find a police officer if in trouble.
Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/08/2020 22:49

My Mum would 100% do it

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 03/08/2020 22:50

I suspect she might, but I think she’d be wrong to. I wouldn’t do it for mine (when they are older)

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 02:55

It's a tiktok prank guys. Not a discussion on the ethical importance of obeying the law.

OP posts:
Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 02:58

It's such an unbelievable prank anyway - AS IF the police would follow you home to check your Mum was alive and kicking. But there are so many of them on tiktok, obviously not all Mums/Grans are on it lol.

OP posts:
Catsup · 04/08/2020 03:47

To be honest it's not really up there on the 'lolz' is it? Oooh haha! I've recorded my parents lying about a potential crime for the world to see 🤔... Its less 'funny' vs the state of millennials being such apparent fucktards they can't even take a fine/speeding ticket without expecting mummy/daddy to 'sort it out'... Yep its fake, but it says a boat load more about 25-30yrs olds 'expecting' to be 'looked after', and prancing about on social media like they're still actual children 🙄

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 04:23

@Catsup Chill da fuck out. It's a joke prank.

Are you on the side of Trump banning Tiktok altogether? You two should get together, have a bottle of wine or something.

compulsivesnacker · 04/08/2020 04:39

Um. Are you old enough to have a driving license op? I thought tiktok was limited to 14yos and this ‘prank’ pretty much sums it up. None of my kids would call me and ask. I brought them up to face the music like adults if they fuck up.
I loathe these sorts of games. Really juvenile. Thank fuck you aren’t mine.

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 04:48

Wow. Jeez. It's just tiktok.

He’s right though. Have you seen the kind of data it collects?

www.boredpanda.com/tik-tok-reverse-engineered-data-information-collecting/

Good thing about banning tiktok is that China really can’t retaliate. They already banned years ago Youtube/Facebook/Twitter/Google/Snapchat/Instagram

😂😂😂😂

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 04:55

The only data it will get on me is that I like looking at dogs or cats or idiots or people dancing. Though there's a really cute anaesthesiologist on there who might give away the fact that I want the sleepy drugs lol.

Catsup · 04/08/2020 04:56

'Chill da fuck out'?... Seriously, if you're old enough to be using that phrase you're way too old to be pissing about on tiktok 😂

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 05:01

Catsup - shall I dance for you? I can do the stair shuffle.

OP posts:
BalletShoe · 04/08/2020 05:10

My mum would tell me to get off the fucking phone before I got done for that as well.

Catsup · 04/08/2020 05:13

That's very 2018 😳... Look on ticktok for the recent moves

Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 05:20

Catsup are you old enough to read the question?

OP posts:
Lookyloo · 04/08/2020 05:21

BalletShoe I expect that's exactly what my parent's would advise me too!

OP posts:
GoshHashana · 04/08/2020 06:38

For me this really divides "good" parents from "bad". A good parent makes their child face up to the consequences of their actions. A bad parent is complicit in getting them off the hook.
