Hairdresser messed my hair up

crymeariverr · 03/08/2020 19:53

I had my hair done on Saturday and she has messed it up I had some extensions put in the front as it's quite thin but my hairline looks really far back.

I sent some pictures and she said they lady that does them doesn't have any upcoming bookings so she won't be in until she gets one probably friday.

I didn't notice it at first soon as I got in the car OH noticed it. Now I'm getting stressed out.

She is my usual hairdresser and I like her but I can't wait until Friday for her to come back so I demand my money or half back what can I do.

I feel like I'm always to nice to people and everyone just takes the piss I don't know whether to stand my ground or just wait it out.

PHONE TGEM!

RUOKHon · 04/08/2020 13:28

Did you not notice it was bad before you left the salon? Why are you texting and whatsapping them? It just gives them the opportunity to ignore you. Phone them.

From your description I’m really struggling to imagine how it looks. How can it have affected your hairline so much? I don’t understand.

Brieminewine · 04/08/2020 13:32

What type of hair extensions are they? I wonder if OP means they’re prebonds and the stylist has started them set back from the hairline to protect the weaker hair growth from traction? Is this the first time you’ve had extensions? They do feel tight and strange to start with.

thewisp · 04/08/2020 13:48

I really don't understand how hair extensions could be pulling your hairline back. The only thing I can envision is that they start an inch or so into the hair and as it's made that part thicker, the wispy real hair doesn't look like the start of hair?

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 04/08/2020 13:55

Please phone them OP, messages won’t be effective in this situation. You need to channel your inner Karen and demand to “speak to the manager.”

Messages can be ignored; an angry/upset client on the phone can’t. If they have any sense, they’ll sort it out rather than risk bad reviews. Sorry you’re having a tough time.Flowers

crymeariverr · 04/08/2020 14:07

Thanks everyone they just rang me back they've told her to come in and fix it tomorrow morning. And now I feel bad for kicking up a fuss! What is wrong with me 😫

I've had them wefted not bonds so she has braided some of my natural hair back at the front and my hairline looks like it's all the way back.

When I was sat in the salon I liked it but I didn't really look up close. I got in the car with OH and looked in the mirror close up in the car and I said do you think my hairline looks far back and he said it was the first thing he noticed.

But I thought I would wait until I get home and style it myself and see what I thought then but it was still bad so I messaged the salon the next morning.

I just hope she sorts it properly tomorrow I feel like every time I go she gets lazier and lazier tells me it looks better straight so she doesn't have to curl it the way I like it ect.

Honest to god, three pages of people advising to phone the hairdresser's to get it sorted, and we're still WhatsApping and being upset when they don't answer?
If it's as bad as you make out, pick up the blooming phone, they can't ignore you then.

crymeariverr · 04/08/2020 14:09

Honestly it one of the things I hate about myself @Meggie2008 I have terrible anxiety I hate confronting people i absolutely hate it.

Stop with the Karen shit.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 04/08/2020 14:21

Sorry, my kids call me a Karen as I’m a middle-aged white woman, I’m starting to believe it myself even though I rarely complain.Blush

BumbleBeee69 · 04/08/2020 14:25

OP... complaining doesn't come easily to a lot of people ... please don't feel bad for not being happy with your hair... you will have paid a lot of money and your unhappy so it is not unreasonable to complain my lovely.... I was going to suggest a soft hairband at the front to soften the appearance but I see the hairdresser if going to fix it tomorrow.. good luck 🌺

Meggie2008 · 04/08/2020 14:34

@crymeariverr It's different if you're complaining about something that isn't really a big deal, but I'd assume you paid a lot of money to get your hair done (I know I do when I go), so if you're not happy with the result, it's the hairdresser's job to fix it. You don't need to worry about upsetting them. They should be worried for doing a crappy job on your hair!

Bluntness100 · 04/08/2020 15:21

Op, extensions always hurt when you get them done for a couple of days after until they relax.

I don’t understand how you thought it was fine in the salon and then not in the car, and to this extent.

cultkid · 04/08/2020 18:48

Get a photo on here and let us help you out

Where are you? What extensions are they??

cultkid · 04/08/2020 18:48

I have worn extensions for 7 years xx

BumbleBeee69 · 04/08/2020 19:27

cultkid ... when you say 7 years ... do you mean a weave style or clip ins or tape ... do they hurt ... how often do you have them maintained ... I'd love to try it 🌺

wow that turned into a lot of questions lol

damnthatanxiety · 04/08/2020 20:01

thewisp
And if she's done the labour, ordered / used the materials etc then half off because you dislike the placement (in retrospect) isn't fair.

Well that depends on whether what has been done is poor work or a matter of opinion. If it is poorly done by anyone's standards and placed incorrectly then it is not a customer's fault that the professional has done the labour, ordered/used the materials any more than had it been a builder who f-ed up. If on the other hand, the job has been well executed but is not to the customer's taste, then it comes down to what was communicated and whether the customer expectation was fair. In this case, the OP has used this hairdresser for sometime so the hair-dresser should know what is wanted and should therefore either redo for free or refund to allow the OP to go elsewhere if the hairdresser can't fit her in in a timely manner.

sleepingpup · 04/08/2020 21:23

OP I think I'm a bit like you. And I've left the hairdressers thinking "this isn't right" and " I'll sort it at home " when I've had some disasters. So I think it's really pointless posters saying didn't you notice in the Salon? I totally empathise.

But actually it's like a pp poster said - the Salon should be thinking about YOU. And if you're pleased. They offer a service and it sounds like it wasn't very good.

I think it's time to leave that hairdresser and find somewhere where they care more about doing a good job.

sleepingpup · 04/08/2020 21:27

should have said OP hope it's sorted now. And you're happy with it. 🌸

cultkid · 04/08/2020 21:27

I have had raptures for 7 years
They are tapes I always have them in I feel very shy without Them.

I am just about to switch to beauty works they are amazing as rapture have declined in quality over the last year
My hair is very fine and they really work for me xx

imissthesouth · 04/08/2020 21:35

Would you say you don't like the style on you or it's simply bad workmanship? If it's the latter then phone your hairdresser and see if they can correct it? A decent one will probably do it free of charge if it means keeping a customer happy!
