To be annoyed that there are no breastfeeding clothes that are not also maternity

I can't seem to find any! DS is 3 months and exclusively breastfed. Nothing fits! Nothing! My pre-pregnancy clothes don't fit well enough to have boob access, my maternity clothes are all too big and any breastfeeding clothes I try to buy just fit hideously because they're made with about 4 extra yards of fabric to accommodate a bump which doesn't exist! I'm sick of feeling so frumpy! I've always loved clothes and feeling stylish and well put together but it seems of I want to breastfeed the only options are get completely undressed everytime I need to feed or look like a slightly deflated whale!

I loved the Jojo Maman Bebe breton stripe dresses for this reason.

I also think Juno Jacks are good.

sarge89 · 31/07/2020 11:24

SmallShow on Amazon, and Happy Mama Smile I lived in these until I stopped BFing last month.

2CatsAndCounting · 31/07/2020 11:25

Check out can I breastfeed one it? There is a Facebook page and a group. Loads of ideas there of ‘normal’ clothes which are suitable for breastfeeding in. Sainsbury have a whole page highlighting clothes which they sell which allow for access - search for ‘ sainsbury tu breastfeeding‘ That usually being sit up

PineappleSquosh · 31/07/2020 11:26

There’s a great Facebook page called Can I Breastfeed In It? They review ordinary high street clothes for how easy it is to unfasten them for feeding.

Zhampagne · 31/07/2020 11:26

Yes, join Can I Breastfeed In It? on Facebook. LOADS of ideas.

Camomila · 31/07/2020 11:26

Button down and wrap dresses are easy to breastfeed in if you don't mind getting a whole boob out over the top. It's getting a bit hot atm to do "one up one down" with tops so I've been wearing lots of wrap dresses and jumpsuits (Sainsburies do zip down ones which are great)

WorriedMummy2020 · 31/07/2020 11:27

I think Vertbaudet do some.

Pinkflipflop85 · 31/07/2020 11:28

Definitely join the cibii group on facebook. There are so many feeding friendly clothes suggested on there. Primark in particular at the moment is really good for things with buttons and easy access.

NameChange30 · 31/07/2020 11:28

YANBU, it is annoying.
However there are some good clothes for breastfeeding (whether normal clothes with boob access or specific breastfeeding clothes) you just have to look carefully!
Join the FB group "Can I breastfeed in it?" for some great ideas.
I mostly did the OUOD (one up one down) method eg stretchy vest top under loose top/t-shirt, pull top up and vest top down.
I did get some Bshirts which were handy especially in summer when I didn't want layers.
IIRC I think the brand "Boob" does breastfeeding clothes for post partum ie no extra fabric for bump.

CupcakesK · 31/07/2020 11:28

I know! It's super annoying. I use a vest top (one with spaghetti straps that slide down easily) under my regular clothes, so my belly is still covered when I lift my top up. Although it is annoying that I have to wear top and skirt/trousers all the time as no dresses are suitable.

NameChange30 · 31/07/2020 11:31

Oh and a lightweight denim shirt with poppers is handy. Poppers are easier than buttons!

Canyousewcushions · 31/07/2020 11:32

There are plenty out there; I've got some fairly plain feeding t shirts from H&M which definitely wouldn't fit a bump under them, and also several feeding vest tops which are fairly slim fitting and I just stick on under a standard t-shirt.

As others have indicated, a lot of non-feedinf specific clothes are also fine for use, getting a few boob tube type tops or vests to stuck under your your usual clothes will work just fine, and for me it also meant I felt much more like myself again because I could pick my outfit from a much wider range of things too.

Notverybright · 31/07/2020 11:37

T-shirt and a vest top underneath is an unbeatable combination in my opinion.

Canyousewcushions · 31/07/2020 11:37

I also had a couple of seraphine maternity dresses which I kept wearing to work even when not pregnant as they still sat really nicely.

There are places out there that can make bespoke things; likely to be on holiday for another couple of weeks but look at Tiny Vikings on facebook- you can pick the fabric and shape and they will make clothes up for you. Plenty of breastfeeding options available, and no modern slavery involved in the sewing.

BullshitVivienne · 31/07/2020 11:40

Normal tops with an h&m feeding vest underneath for me. Covers my stomach and has clicky straps like a nursing bra.

beautifulmonument · 31/07/2020 11:44

Get a few breastfeeding vest tops (vest top incorporating a nursing bra) and wear under shirts, cardigans or tops/jumpers that can be pulled up.

Toastyapples · 31/07/2020 11:59

Thank you for your suggestions! O shall explore these. I don't have Facebook but I'll see if I can get access as that page sounds good.

There's a website too cibii.co.uk/

Emmacb82 · 31/07/2020 12:03

I use normal vest tops underneath or if I’m really desperate just my normal clothes and people have to put up with more exposed skin! I have got a couple of nursing tops from new look online and also Asda online x

Iwonder08 · 31/07/2020 12:04

Jojomabebe has lots of breastfeeding clothes that are not maternity. Particularly nice t-shirts that fit well

angel0071987 · 31/07/2020 12:11

Juno jacks
Patpat
Seraphine
Hotmamma (can't remember spelling of that one).

All excellent :)

buzzybuzzbee · 31/07/2020 12:33

@Notverybright

T-shirt and a vest top underneath is an unbeatable combination in my opinion.
Totally agree!
WombatStewForTea · 31/07/2020 12:35

Agree join the group.
But also just buy things with buttons
Or wear strap top underneath so you can do one up one down.
I'm breastfeeding my 6 month old and haven't worn 'breastfeeding' tops since she was a few weeks cos they're all shit

AldiAisleofCrap · 31/07/2020 12:38

I just wore wrap dresses or a vest under a t shirt.

frogswimming · 31/07/2020 12:42

Shirt or button front dresses work too, with a bshirt or similar vest under. If you want the top of your boob and tummy covered while you feed. www.thebshirt.clothing
