To ask how can I lose weight without dieting?

I am so fed up of being on the diet-binge cycle. I have tried several "diets" including calorie counting, intermittent fasting (5:2), trying to eat mindfully/intuitively. It lasts maybe 4-6 weeks and then I go back to eating how I always eat which is large portions of unhealthy food with evening comfort eating of crisps, chocolate and ice-cream. I measured my BMI and I was shocked seeing that I am now classed as obese. I knew I was overweight but I didn't think I was obese!

Whenever I think about losing weight it always creeps into being too restrictive and strict which perpetuates the diet-binge cycle. I am so bored of being on this cycle.

Has anyone managed to lose weight in a sustainable way? I want a complete lifestyle overhaul.

@Newnamenewopenme im finding if i have my main meal at 12 ish it keeps me fuller longer.

Then breakfast at 4 tea at 8.

I am going to start really getting serious about exercise,it will keep me on the straight and narrow.

why do you have these in? genuinely?

I don't keep sweet stuff in the house so instead I go out of an evening and buy it. Or even worse I get Uber eats.

Over the years I have yoyo'd too. When I moved into my current house 8 years ago I was a 14/16. Then my 16s started getting tight. I took up running and did the mindful eating. Went down to a 12. Then went back up to a 16 again. Did Slimming world for a bout 2-3 months which gave me a good start, but I continued down the 16:8 route and running more (I gave up a little bit of the running) again. Got down to a size 10.

Am now a 16 again. There have also been plenty of failed attempts where I try for a day or two.

Currently I am back doing the 16:8, mindful eating (by eating really slow - currently helped along by tootache and stopping when I'm full) and drinking more water. After 2 weeks I've lost 3lbs. I'm also back to upping the mileage in my running again after cutting down my distance to up to 10K during lockdown (I was training for a marathon back in March). So early days yet, but I feel determined.

One thing that my successful attempts have in common is my sheer wanting to do it. The unsuccessful times my heart hasn't really been in it.

My belief is that there are many ways to lose weight and you need to find what works for you. We all have different likes, dislikes and lifestyles so its finding what fits into yours. I know I can't do the low carbing route because of, well pasta. I know I can't completely cut out certain foods because I will just want them more. I know I can't calorie count because that feels too much like a diet and therefore restrictive again.

I'm feeling good about this time which is usually a good thing. Good luck OP.

Has anyone done the 24 hour fast and how did it work out?
