My husbands job sees him classed as a key worker - except he’s furloughed. The term is pretty meaningless.

Everybody's job is key to a functioning capitalist society. Just because some workers' roles were designated critical to the running of the country during the earlier stages of this pandemic, it does not mean that others jobs are less important.

Other jobs, the ones of those furloughed or working from home are now becoming the key roles to save the country from economic collapse. We are all truly in this together and our roles are as important as each others.

If you feel like your job is worthless, that is because of your state of mind and not the actuality of the situation.

I'm a key worker and my job has got easier. Working from home. No commute. Not coming in to contact with the public. More time to spend with my son. I'm no hero.

Family member is a researcher in an extremely important field. Has still been working. Not a key worker. Groundbreaking stuff to be proud of, with or without a national pandemic in the background.

I've had enough of the cringe 'I'm a key worker' Facebook photos from key workers like me who are working from home and face no risk whatsoever...

I was/am a key worker (not in UK) and I hope it hasn’t made people think their job is worthless. I hate the naff hero stuff that’s been applied to it. Everyone’s job contributes to society. Every job is vital now, as user8747 says, to try and stave off economic collapse.

I'm a keyworker running a care home and the pandemic has made me feel even more low and totally undervalued. The government, media, shops and general public have made us feel like the underclass.

Water I would have thought your profile would have risen during this pandemic as you are front line care

A lot of companies furloughed people to save a few quid. Some of those companies could have enabled WFH but chose not to.....
