Apparently it was the Policeman. We still debate this. AIBU?

@GrouchyKiwi Thomas the Tank Engine is terrifying. The episode where Henry gets bricked in!! It is HORRIFYING!

Our daughter was terrified of the purple Tittifer in In The Night Garden. Grin

Coldbatteredpuddings · 25/07/2020 22:36

My son was terrified of the character Anna Conda on gigglebiz - it was the eyes he didn't like. There was also a program with a magical house that suddenly developed a face on it and the furniture cane to life. He was really scared of that - we had to watch cbeebies clutching the remote control in case it came on 😂
He loved Balamory though. He had an obsession with pc plum and used to cycle around on his little trike singing the pc plum song. He was so cute! 😊

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow

Troublesome Trucks and “Diseasal” from Thomas. I would launch myself across the room to fast forward before the screaming started.
There was a Thomas episode where the bridge collapsed due to flooding. That didn't half cause a lot of bother in our house when DC1 was a toddler.
Fahrted · 25/07/2020 22:38

There was also the episode of Auntie Mabel and Pippin where the chip pan catches fire. DS used to hide under the table for that bit.

ramamamadingdong · 25/07/2020 22:39

I can confirm that Edie McCredie was a real sweetie in the real world. We were in a tiny restaurant abroad when my kids were roughly 6 and 4 and well into Balamory. She saw that they (and we) were starstruck and came over for a chat.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/07/2020 22:39

My post was unclear. I'm moderately fine with Thomas - though the more I watch the less I like. It has some very eyebrow-raising psychology.

I'm terrified of In The Night Garden, Balamory, etc.

@fuckinghellapeacock That episode with Henry is awful. Poor Henry. Either have anthropomorphic trains and treat them with compassion, or have trains that can be bricked up for months without problem. You can't have both!

There was also a program with a magical house that suddenly developed a face on it and the furniture cane to life Ooooh cannot remember the name of it but Chris Jarvis was in it , and he does The Best story telling voices Grin

Years ago we were at CentreParcs , DS and DD were watching TV which was on a low shelf in the corner of the kitchen counter .
She screamed ! Bear in the Big Blue House loomed forward with his Fonz-Style eyebrows ....and did that Oh you smell like syrup and pancakes thing which DD had just eaten.
She thought BitBBH was spying on her ! Grin.

We love to remind DS, now 14, that he used to hide under the coffee table every time Cranky the Crane would come on Thomas the tank engine. Who remembers Grabby Crabby in Captain Mack? That was another trigger to nightmares... and the Puzzler in the old Numberjack...

Coromandine · 25/07/2020 22:47

I loved Come Outside with Auntie Mabel and Pippin.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2020 22:49

This was what terrified DS1 now 21.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2020 22:52

oh and the lion and the bear...

Sobeyondthehills · 25/07/2020 22:55

@fuckinghellapeacock I don't think it was the show (I never watched it) I just think the Gorilla would be called a different name, apparently there were a couple of others

ilovepixie · 25/07/2020 23:03

I used to have a bit of a notion for PC Plum!

TheCanyon · 25/07/2020 23:05

Guys I LOVE you, been youtubing old cartoons etc I loved to show the dc. sorted now!

Dds dad is from tobermory, was very disappointed when we visited Grin

Parques · 25/07/2020 23:09

My son was terrified of an episode of Teletubbies with a lion character: "I' am a scary lion with big scary teeth"! It was pretty full on!!!!

Jux · 25/07/2020 23:15

He has been scarred for life in his very soul. You need to pay for endless counselling sessions for him. One day, he may be able to forgive you.....

Mothermorph · 25/07/2020 23:17

Both of my DC were freaked out by the mumbertaker and spooky spoon on number jacks (I had never really got the under-taker reference despite watching it with them Blush)

soloula · 25/07/2020 23:19

DD2 who is 4 has nightmares all the time about Mr Tod from Peter Rabbit.

8misskitty8 · 25/07/2020 23:23

Mine both loved Balamory. Me too not as much, but weird seeing ISA from still game out of make up as Granny Murray.

Tv shows for kids were much scarier when I was little. Terrahawks for a start !

MooneyBadger · 25/07/2020 23:24

I remember all these.

I think the house with the creepy face was in "Step Inside". Mr Mopple was the gardener.

Suzie Sweet was scary. The weird episode when she dressed up as Charlie Chaplin and stalked people next to bins was disturbing.

We loved PC Plum, though I think Archie was probably more his type than Miss Hoolie was.

The scariest Tellytubbies character was that odd woman with the huge teapot who used to pour children a couple of fresh air and then repeat the words "Naughty, naughty, naughty" umpteen times.

The poo episode with Aunty Mabel & Pippin was a classic though. :o

Phoebesgift · 25/07/2020 23:33

My daughter was terrified of the Numberjacks. She still is aged nearly 12!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 25/07/2020 23:34

You are all wrong about Spooky Spoon. She is a menopausal woman who has given up being nice and minding the rules and goes about doing what the fuck she likes.

Her insane rage-filled shriek and pearls are pretty much me trying to get the kids out the door on a work day.

My DS still watches Balamory occasionally. He is 20...
