To find it weird people Zoom from their bed?

I have been on a number of Zoom calls, mostly work related, but also with friends and groups I'm part of.

With work, most people seem to dial in from a desk or table. Sometimes even the garden.

On the others I've seen people propped up on their bed, which includes in a work quiz and a group meeting where I hadn't "met" or spoken to a few of the other people before. If it was just friends I'd find it less strange.

Not a big deal and not having a go, just interested.

I think working from home has meant that many of us see into one another's homes when we wouldn't usually.

I was attending work meetings from bed for weeks before I was well enough to get up. Kept the camera strictly off though.

Turned out he was doing some washing up and it was the tap. Or so he said.

My clever DD has been working on a Zoomfilm inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. She set it in an online classroom and everything has been done from her bed. There are 11 actors, 2 producers, an editor and a musical director. All of the auditions, rehearsals, meetings, recordings, pre and post production were done remotely without a single face to face meeting.

She has put a clip of a small part on YouTube so I can share that. Much Ado In Iso 2020

Amazing what people can do from their beds with technology. Smile

Sounds interesting but still a bit different from adult professionals in my field attending Zoom meetings from their bed pillows.

Dh is working from home on calls in the lounge, the kids are playing in the lounge or in their bedroom.
There are two places in the house I can get some quiet if I need to do a more involved call- one is the conservatory but garden noise and power tools from next door and erratic WiFi - the other is either you get me in the bedroom or locked in the loo. Since we only have one bathroom - bedroom it is

Do you lie on your bed during meetings? What is your job?

YABU if it’s the only place they can sit comfortably and privately. I don’t get the issue, it doesn’t bother me.

I wouldn't say it bothers me either but I do find it weird. I get going to the bedroom for privacy but being in the bedroom need not equate to lying on the bed for a team meeting. Comfort isn't the most important thing, in my opinion, if you're in a formal meeting. Clearly we are all different and we presumably work in different industries and have different standards. I'm sure in some cases it cannot he helped.

Obviously I am offending some of the people who do this!

While lying seems a bit weird, not everybody has a bed with a backrest to lean against or backing onto a wall. Not everybody is strong enough to sit straight upright on the bed for hours on end without support. I am lucky in that my bed is against the wall, but there is no space in there for extra seating. Dd's bed is against the radiator (other wall spaces covered by cupboards, room is tiny).

Our last board meeting lasted 4 hrs and 10 mins. Fortunately I was able to have the sofa at that time as dd was working upstairs.
