Hotel House keeping?

Butterflybees · 18/07/2020 21:26

If staying at a hotel but in a self catering building seperate from main hotel (but still belonging to the hotel) would you expect the bins to be emptied and fresh towels each day or no housekeeping services at all?
There are no washing machines available.

No. Unless they specified that it should be there.

Butterflybees · 18/07/2020 21:36

It wasnt specified either way.

No I wouldn’t expect that when self catering unless it had been specified (and at the moment even if it was specified originally I would expect that it may well no longer happen to minimise the times housekeeping visited)

squee123 · 18/07/2020 21:52

no I wouldn't as it's self catering

Todaythiscouldbe · 18/07/2020 21:52

No. Not unless it was agreed that towels would be changed.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/07/2020 21:56

No, unless they'd said it would.

Bmidreams · 18/07/2020 22:04

Does anybody still expect clean towels every day anyway? It's so bad for the environment.

dicksplash · 18/07/2020 22:06

Nope, not unless its specified.

Daffodilgumboots · 18/07/2020 22:09

I work in a hotel with a similar set up. It really depends on what you have paid for. Some self catering request to have a daily service and are priced accordingly. Or they have a special arrangement eg a company contract or tour party. But otherwise self catering look after themselves.
Just now our housekeepers are strictly only cleaning departures due to covid. They will supply a guest with clean towels if asked. If they want a change of bedding then the guest will need to strip and make the bed themselves.

DieSchottin93 · 18/07/2020 22:31

If you're self catering no. Also the hotel I work at has cut back on housekeeping due to Covid, if you want fresh towels you have to let reception know and leave them in a bin liner outside your room so housekeeping can take them away and leave fresh ones outside your room.

BiBabbles · 18/07/2020 23:11

With self catering I wouldn't really at any time, and as Daffodilgumboots and DieSchottin93 said, in many typical hotels right now, cleaning is only happening on departures with certain things available at request.

Floralnomad · 18/07/2020 23:16

Not in self catering and at the moment I’m not sure they’d be going in your room at all - for example at Centerparcs they are not doing daily housekeeping but leaving you enough towels etc for the week .

Oly4 · 18/07/2020 23:18

No I wouldn’t expect that in self catering

ilovesooty · 18/07/2020 23:41

No I think I'd expect minimal housekeeping, especially in self catering.

maxdash · 18/07/2020 23:49

No.

LonginesPrime · 19/07/2020 00:07

Nope - that's what self-catering means.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/07/2020 00:15

Even posh hotels are not doing daily housekeeping at the minute due to Covid.

CompleteBarstool · 19/07/2020 12:52

In the UK no I wouldn't expect it.

Abroad I would say it's more likely but because a lot of places are aparthotels. For example where we stay in Tenerife the ladies come in daily sweep floors, change towels and make beds even though we are self-catering.

heartsonacake · 19/07/2020 13:15

No, because that’s not self catering.

FinallyHere · 19/07/2020 14:01

This is the sort of thing it is worth asking about when you book self catering. It's often possible to arrange, at a price, even if not included in the basic price.

But then, pretty much anything is available for a price.

Gabrielknight · 19/07/2020 14:03

Nope. That's what self catering means

MorganKitten · 19/07/2020 14:17

Self-catering.... it’s in the name

icebearforpresident · 19/07/2020 15:01

I’ve just returned from a resort as you described after a few days away, also on self catering. I had to go to the main hotel reception to report a maintenance issue and heard a member of staff having a conversation with someone about why there wouldn’t be daily housekeeping in the apartments. Were you in Scotland by any chance?

To answer your question it would never cross my mind to get clean towels & housekeeping in self catering. If I want that I’ll stay in an actual hotel.

cuntryclub · 19/07/2020 15:06

Self catering refers to meals not housekeeping. It's in the name. Catering. Self catering means you have facilities to make food.

UnaCorda · 19/07/2020 15:07

@MorganKitten

Self-catering.... it’s in the name
I thought "catering" was the provision of food and drink, not towels, etc. (Not that I would expect daily house-keeping in such a set-up.)
