Apparently there is something wrong with me!

I hate the house phone with a passion. I much prefer texts and emails as i can answer when it is convenient for me. However my mum thinks that there is something wrong with me as i have the house phone unplugged a lot. She doesn't understand that i don't always want my time inturupted by people talking crap about what they have had for dinner etc and the only way to convey to certain members of my family that i cannot talk is to unplug the phone.

I don’t know what your job is but I’d be a bit concerned that someone in a professional capacity finds emails that difficult to communicate with.

Typing an email on a full sized keybard is far less of a faff then using a phone to text (for me anyway).

@LinemanForTheCounty do you really, honestly not see that it’s easy to send a quick email/web chat while you’re at your laptop/pc doing something else anyway?

Instead of holding for an age, explaining the rigmarole blah blah.

I can make other calls while typing an email and doing other stuff, too. It’s just - life!

For me (and I’m sure loads) it’s just as easy to type on a phone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you talking in a work context or a personal?

I'd be loathed to give out my personal number to work colleagues. Text and email have their place but another way of dealing with stuff is to arrange a call like a meeting, "when's a good time to call?". Yes if people are WFH they should be available but at the same time many are trying to juggle kids and work around others too.
Two people in one room trying to do seperate conference calls at the same time sounds disastrous and that's before you add kids into the mix.
