To get really irritated with certain emojis

First world problem and that. But for some reason I get really irritated with some emojis! The monkey with its hands over its eyes: usually used when someone has done something a bit daft. The shrugging woman and the thinking face; just so passive aggressive!

I used to hate them but am a mature student reliant on social media who has learned to appreciate (some/most).

If I put "pray" in my emoji search bar, this comes up: 🙏. It also comes up when I search "high five." Clearly the meaning of that one is based on the context of the message.

I love 🤷🙄😒 They are my most used emojis.

I miss and in non-mn settings.

I hate the smug one... 😏... and the drooling one... 🤤. The barf emoji is disgusting, but that's kind of its point, I guess.

There is a woman on our town Facebook page who responds to absolutely every negative post - you know the ones, the 'thanks to the woman in the park who didn't pick up her dogs deposit... I didn't confront you then so I hope you see this message", with the monkey 'see no evil' emoji. I actively look for it now when I see those posts, just to annoy myself..,

I used to hate them but have fully embraced them in recent times. I feel they give context when intonation isn't always obvious in a message...
My most commonly used ones are -

I always interpret this one as being passive aggressive, but have to remind myself people use it as a genuine smiley face haha 🙂

Oh my goodness I have found my people! I hate them, I like the mn ones but if I open a thread and someone has used a regular emoji I don't read it. My most hated are the heart eyes, the crying laughter and the monkey hiding it's eyes.

I like them, as a PP said they can be useful for disambiguation.

Agree with 'lol' as puncuation though.

I like emoji's, but then I don't have any other social media so only use them in WhatsApps and on MN, even then not that often.

i hate the poo one and laughing /crying one makes me want to through my phone, a lot of them can just jog on !

I love them! They add humour to help with the tone over message. I don't know anyone who says LOL except my grandma who still uses it over text for lots of love 🥰

And the heart in eyes one annoys me too. I can't say my hatred for these in rl, as lots of friends and family use them. I'm sure I do things that irritate them too.

The one I don't get is the little square of pink (or other skin type tone) - is it meant to indicate your ethnicity?? I find that kind if weird. Grateful for any explanation..

I only u derstand "smilies" that's what they used to be called 😄 I don't get the shrugging lady or what ever my eldest DD is into ending messages with shrugs and symbols I usually reply Lol . And apparently a thumbs up is the height of rudeness(who knew)
