To not want DC to call teachers by their first name

Just that really. It's a new rule that will be introduced in their school next term. I suppose I'm a bit old fashioned but I think calling a teacher Ms/Mr x or Sir/Miss is part of school life. I'm actually feeling a bit sad about it. I suppose I'm just behind the times and am BU

Interestingly yesterday's poll showed 80% YABU (didn't intend to set the poll up) and today its 54% vs 46%.

Most parents on DD's class WhatsApp chat are unhappy. There is a school close to ours where teachers are addressed by their first name, (also no uniform and the HT has set a no homework policy). It is very popular but several parents on our chat who are in the catchment for it point out that they purposefully chose our school and avoided the popular one because they didn't want that kind of environment for their DC (not saying it's wrong, just a preference). It's all very disappointing and I think the school should have consulted parents.

DD just giggled when I told her about the new rule.
