I've never actually watched the show as I've clicked onto it about twice and nearly puked. It's a totally unnecessary show imo. All you'll have watching it is wankers tugging the shit out of themselves. I can't believe people actually watch it in the first place, unless to wank off.

As for any idiot who goes on it? TBH I wouldn't want to know what my nurse's genitalia looked like - so yes, unprofessional to me. Even worse would be a teacher. As per pp, they'd never be respected again, so would have compromised their position.

What's the HCPC?

Seems a safeguarding issue to me

How?

I do agree it shows an enormous lack of judgment. I wouldn't be too impressed if one of my legal colleagues went on it. Or one of my son's teachers.

If the show is illegal/immoral then it should be shut down. If not then I don't see the problem.

I actually think it IS a bad influence as it promotes the idea that appearance is all that matters, but not because of the nakedness as such.

If a teacher did it we hear that they would never be respected again, but that just reveals that kids have been taught some pretty shallow rules for respecting people. Maybe this is time to address that.

YABU. Employers should not be policing their employee's personal lives.

The show is shite, let alone immoral.

Shallow rules for respecting people? Come off it. Displaying your uglies on national TV doesn't really command respect.

This thread is bonkers!

I'm a chartered accountant, OP, please can you let me know where you think it's ok for me to be naked?

@ChewChewsBiscuitTin

please can you let me know where you think it's ok for me to be naked?

Ideally somewhere where I don't have to look at you.

I don't really see what you mean about bringing the profession into disrepute? It's not like they were on TV badly inserting IV lines.

I also don't get why we're so obsessed with maintaining a weird 'professional' gloss over our entire lives. Every single person you've ever worked with has genitals. They also might be into weird sex stuff, be a Disney obsessive, like to get smashed off tequila, lose their shit occasionally, just generally be an actual person. I find it so odd that it's unprofessional to in any way be a human with quirks and flaws - is professionalism defined by being fully dressed? By not being an exhibitionist? What exactly is it that is unprofessional about going on a TV dating show where you get naked?

Nobody goes home and gets into bed wearing their sensible Karen Millen skirt, having said 'kind regards' as they tucked their children into bed, and then watches 1 sensible hour of Workplace Safety and Etiquette videos before they sleep. People are people.

(Disclaimer: I work somewhere where we don't wear 'professional' clothing, we all have lives and personalities and hobbies that we often discuss, some of which would I'm sure be deemed unprofessional by corporate drones, and we are all successful, hardworking and no less efficient for not pretending we dream about Excel spreadsheets)

How can it be a safeguarding issue? They werent naked at work, or in front if a vulnerable person. I've never watched it so I don't know what it's about (except presumably being naked) but I honestly can't see how you can bring safeguarding issues into it.

YANBU
I understand and accept that if I get drunk and dance naked on a table I am likely to lose my professional registration
The TA who gave her story to a tabloid after losing a vibrator up her anus should, imo, have lost her job. I don't know if she did or not it wasn't reported but she was a TA in a primary school
Can people not keep anything private anymore

And you're forced to watch this programme against your will then?

Displaying your uglies on national TV doesn't really command respect.

  1. You have some internalised body issues if you have to refer to genitals as 'uglies'

  1. What exactly about being naked is unworthy of respect? If you don't like it, don't watch it, but nobody is less worthy of respect just because they wear less (or no!) clothing than you. By that measure we should all be covered head to toe at all times because god forbid we pass an arbitrary naked skin limit. They're just penises and vaginas. It's okay. Everyone has them.

People have lost their jobs for less. I can think of at least 2 cases (hazy on details) where they were filmed drunk and disorderly and were fired.

One Irish guy lost his football career and his reputation in Ireland for being outed engaged in gay porn. All over the front pages of tabloids in Ireland (which I didn't agree with) - he apparently had gambling debt which is why he did it. His life was ruined.

That white woman in central park being a racist cost her her career and reputation.

Companies don't want their company or their profession being brought into disrepute. Displaying your genitalia on TV is far from fucking professional conduct.

Companies don't want their company or their profession being brought into disrepute.

Companies own 40 hours of your week, not your entire life.

And doing gay porn (which is legal and frankly not anyone else's business) is not the same as being a racist (which is, the way she was harassing the man and making false claims to the police, not legal).

I'd just call them genitals, Gimme.

There's decency and modesty and not displaying yourself on national TV. It's a bit like flashers imo. Do you respect your local flasher? I mean, all he's doing is respecting his body and displaying his pretties?

I know someone who was 'too embarrassed' to see her GP about vaginal issues so she went on Embarrassing Bodies instead for the whole nation to see. Hmm

People are WIERD.

I don't like the idea of normalising public nudity. I would rather people keep their private parts private. Bodies are nothing to be ashamed of, but they are also not a way to rank people, and I think its much easier to prevent sexual exploitation if society expects people to be dressed in public.

I'll probably namechange after this as it's quite outing but I work in a professional, traditional industry where one of my well-known peers also happens to run Europe's biggest sex festival. Never stopped them sitting on industry panels, being well-respected, etc. I don't see why it would!
