“I’m just doing this for you”

Blitzing the house today, fairish division of labour but OH is so slow so he had the baby in between feeds and I concentrated on cleaning, he did the bathroom while she slept but I did most of the rest of the house.

We’re stood in the kitchen and he says “I’ll wipe the sides over for you”

“For me?”

“Yeah, well, I’m not doing bit for myself am I and if I don’t do it you’ll have to so I’m doing it for you”

AIBU to be annoyed?

I don’t announce I’m cleaning for him, I just do it cause it needs doing. He does the same with putting washing away and he’ll announce he’s done it and wait for a thank you, if I say nothing he repeats himself. Just get on with it if it needs doing!!

My dh does loads (comparatively) round the house

But he has a habit of saying ‘for you’

The other day he made the bed (which he always does) and he mentioned that he’d done it, i said ‘cool’ and he said well i think you should thank me for making the bed

😡

What? Using the bedding i stripped off the bed, that i washed and that i hung up and put in the bedroom when dry ...that bed

@Irre247

He just said “What do you think of the bathroom?” I said “What do you think Of the rest of the house?” so he looked at me confused and said “But the bathroom is sparkling isn’t it”

There is no hope! Grin

I have an extremely low tolerance for that sort of behaviour. It's shitty.

I would also assume that he is that slow to be sure that he does as little as possible. I mean can't he do some cleaning at the same time than looking after the baby, the same than most SAHM do?

And no saying 'I have no hope Grin' is not the right answer either.

It was quite funny this morning.
My son who is 21 said ' oh mum, I have swept the kitchen floor for you''
I launched like a rocket with ' You know bloody well, you haven't done it for me' to find him pissing himself laughing miming a reeling in a fishing rod!! Just baiting me and I fall for it every time!! :)

Oooh I get the rage at this too! Last week it was raining and my husband helped getting the washing in "for me" I lost my rag and pointed out that nothing on the line was mine so how was it for me? We have 4 kids and I do the lions share as he works full time and I'm furloughed currently but even when I'm working I do more yet he never says thanks yet I'm expected to bow down in gratitude if he lifts a finger!

I should add, I regularly go on strike and don't do anything of his until he realises his aresholery and pulls his head out of his backside

DH takes out spiders for me, he makes a point of saying that as he likes them and would leave them be so he does make a point of ensuring I know it’s done for me.

Anything like normal house work he just does.
