To ask for help with my burning fanjo

Posting for traffic so please don't shoot me down.

9 weeks ago my bits down below started burning. As I had just had 2 courses of antibiotics for coronavirus, I presumed I had thrush. Went to the chemist and got the one time tablet. Did nothing. Then reading on here the thread 'my vagina stinks' as mine seemed a little strong I thought it must be BV. Went to the chemist bought the test and gels. Test was negative, but after reading that they were not accurate, used the gels anyway. I got instant relief and all was fine for 3 days, then the burning returned.

Since that doctor has taken swabs, clear.
Urine tests, clear.

I've had antibiotics for bv, still the same
2 more capsules for thrush, still the same.

The burning has shifted somewhat to the skin on my legs around vag. The hollows that you get when you sit down if that makes sense.

I should say I am 44 nearly 45 and use vagifem as I was presumed to be menopausal. I was tearing inside during sex and after nurse had a look was advised to use these.

I haven't worn underwear in all this time as it hurts the skin on my legs, and have lived in jogging bottoms as they are loose.

Can anyone advise, re the burning, as it is getting me down so much. I cannot carry on like this.

Would a 'she wee' help?

AntiSocialDistancer · 13/07/2020 10:59

I would also take some Ovex!! Check with the pharmacist but my understanding is it's relatively harmless and it shouldnt counteract any other medicine. Its an "if in doubt" type medication!

Youve seen stringy discharge that you thought might be moving. It really sounds like you could benefit from it. You need one tablet now and another in 2 weeks.

do you have any relief by sitting on the loo? Like before or after you've had a wee does physically sitting on the loo provide any relief from the burning?

Tootsey11 · 13/07/2020 11:41

Yes, doing a pee helps greatly for about 15 minutes then it starts all over.

Physically sitting on the loo, no, no relief. I think I misunderstood. But actual peeing helps.

I've had vulvodynia since 2014, lucky me! I was seeing a private consultant at one point but can't afford it right now. NHS kept batting me between gynecology and dermatology who both basically washed their hands of me. Had a terrible final appointment with a NHS gyno who was the most unsympathetic bloke and pretty much said we don't know what it is, what do you want us to do about it? I left that appointment and had a panic attack in the corridor, thankfully a nurse came and sat with me while I calmed down.

I have burning, thankfully not 24/7, a lot of thick discharge mid cycle which (TMI alert) comes out in clumps. This tends to make the burning worse. I've got to the point where I've just become used to it which sucks. Hopefully once our finances pick back up I'll see the private gyno again as he was great.

What I use at the minute is a gel called saginel which I read about on a forum, it provides relief but is expensive. Also a moisturiser called Vulva Harmony, also a bit pricey but lasts a good while.

Oh, and I've also tried Amitriptyline for pain purposes, which did nothing but when I came off them my emotions were all over the shop.

And then I tried gabapentin which also didn't work but I gained a bunch of weight.

But I'm always on the lookout for other solutions, so thanks to pp who suggested optibac I will give it a try!

Just got reading the thread and wondered if you’re any further near resolving it? Suffering from the same symptoms - burning which initially eased after loading dose of vagifem, but after reduction down to x 2 a week the burning has returned with avengence! Have another appointment with GP next week and dropped off urine sample for testing again today (last one -result normal)! The whole thing is stressing me out! Feeling uncomfortable for a couple of months now on and off, but more on 😞

The above was for Tootsie 11 - new to this so not sure how posting works 😝
