For me, meeting a friend for a leisurely wander around the (wonderfully socially distanced) National Gallery, followed by cocktails at the end of the afternoon.

I went to the hairdressers on the first day they opened (4 July). It was lovely to have my hair cut, but also it was a really nice atmosphere in the salon. Everyone was chatting to each other.

So nice.

I met a new colleague in my office who I recruited by zoom and have never met. That was nice too.

Meeting up with the in-laws and letting them entertain the kids (socially distanced mostly). Getting back to trips out to country parks and NT gardens. So easy to tire the kids out.

Sitting in a coffee shop with a newspaper.

Nothing. I preferred it a bit quieter. No family has come to visit. I haven't seen them since Christmas but everything I suggest they say no to, as they know I will be seeing them in August.
I have seen some friends in their gardens and I enjoyed it, but not as much as the quiet walks.
I look forward to pools openeing, but am enjoying the challenge of finding other places to swim in the meantime.
Other than that, it will be nice to have my dh back at work if he manages to hold on to his job.

My mum has a coastal second home which we visited this weekend and the beach and park were deserted (It’s not a massively popular place, old fashioned etc). I felt like I had won the lottery.

Flythedragons · 12/07/2020 22:53

Being able to drive to where I want to exercise. We have some beautiful walks close to us that you need to drive to.

ceeveebee · 12/07/2020 22:59

Having my hair done
Seeing my parents in real life not on zoom
Going to a bar

BlueJava · 12/07/2020 23:17

It will be my hair cut on Tuesday!

victoriashleigh · 12/07/2020 23:22

Iced coffee and pain au chocolat from the bakery! Having a haircut on Thursday! On the flip side, we’re going to a drive-in movie on Wednesday as (cinema is still a bit iffy imo) which I’m looking forward to.

My daughter got married yesterday. We had 5 days notice that we would be allowed to travel. We had a lovely socially distanced service with friends and family following it as it was streamed and a reception for parents and bride and groom prepared by her friends who went to enormous effort for her even though they could not attend. It was the best day ever.

OverTheRainbow88 · 13/07/2020 17:17

@IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere

That sounds lovely, glad you had such a fab and special day 💜

cologne4711 · 13/07/2020 17:27

Visiting my mum.
Then running with friends.

I'm not too worried about anything else although it was nice to have coffees and meals out with my mum.

cologne4711 · 13/07/2020 17:28

DS and DH were incredibly happy about having their hair cut.

Feellikedancingyeah · 13/07/2020 17:29

Nothing . Another 7 weeks to get through yet

Lostinbooksandcoffee · 13/07/2020 17:35

The knowledge that as of next week, I'll have more support. My 3yo has ASD so it's been difficult. We can see family. My mum can hold her grandchildren, and she can come with me to take the kids on a walk. She can have my 1yo so I can spend some one on one time with DD. My mental health has taken a battering over this so to know I have support from next week is a weight off my shoulders. (DH is WFH, and has to be next week as my mum had to sort of isolate due to another relative travelling when they shouldn't have).

ceeveebee · 13/07/2020 22:20

Knowing that I have managed to book holiday clubs for both children,3 days a week for the next 5 weeks. After 17 weeks of juggling with full time jobs!

Home42 · 13/07/2020 22:23

Sitting in the sunshine outside my touring caravan with my DD and my boyfriend. It was fantastic!

Titsywoo · 13/07/2020 22:26

Quite a few things:-

My children spending some time with friends
Seeing my friends and family
Going to a restaurant
Going to a "non essential" shop - just for the feeling of normality
Not queuing at the supermarket (first time today - obviously there are still queues sometimes)
The light at the end of the tunnel of schools going back in Sept

lljkk · 13/07/2020 22:29

cycle rides with my friend, buying a shirt in a charity shop, teen DC seeing some friends.

Cociabutter · 13/07/2020 22:30

Not thinking about it 24/7. I realised that yesterday, suddenly struck me that I hadn't thought about it for hours. I was glued rigid to the news for the first month which I'm sure did me no good whatsoever.

DarkDarkNight · 13/07/2020 22:32

I’m a single parent and don’t drive. The furthest my Son had been was walks and scooter rides round the neighbourhood. Once we were allowed to form a bubble with my parents we took him to a local beach which is only about 15 minutes drive from us but would involve a bus then train on public transport. He was thrilled to be out and just ran about like a wild thing.

He couldn’t go in the park then so since then we have been to several parks and I was so happy to see him enjoy himself.

rookiemere · 13/07/2020 22:33
  • Meeting my friend for a walk with the dog
  • Visiting the zoo
  • DS 14 being able to meet his friends
  • Being here on holiday across the border in England in holiday cottage with SIL. It's weird how wondrous and how normal it feels
  • First meal out in forever
StarStarTeachMe · 13/07/2020 22:33

I got my hair done! It was so badly needed.

Being able to make tentative plans again.
