What's a fednett letter - context - GP surgery

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 16:15

Ok, so while writing title and writing this, I've rung the GP.

So I got a text from GP surgery asking me to make an appointment with GP (which I've made for a phonecall tomorrow).

So then I was thinking wtf so rang back to see what appointment was about.

So, receptionist said the letter relates to abdominal cramps consultation with 111 that I had a few days ago. Stool sample sent off on Friday, receptionist confirmed results are back.

Now I'm shitting it that results are not good?

I know the advice I would give to anyone else would be to calm the fuck down and chill until appointment tomorrow, but my GP practice are never proactive about anything so I can't imagine them wanting to call me about A. a call to 111 or B. a perfectly normal stool sample!

Text from GP says:

Dear Miss Gimme
Please make a doctors consultation regarding FedNett letter we have received.
Thanks

Rose I can't tolerate antibiotics well - I end up puking them and my guts up. Hopefully it's not that! I'm presuming that they've just now read the referral letter and haven't realised that they've already actioned it.

Are you sure you didn’t mis-hear and the letter is In fact sent by Fed Ex?

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 07/07/2020 17:19

Sorry cross post. I see you has it written down.

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:20

Rose - the past is still the present - I'm still chasing them up on putting me on mg supplements 3 weeks later!

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:22

And re the mg, they tell me that I have to ring the GP surgery at 8am to get a consultation.

GreyishDays · 07/07/2020 17:23

I think it’s FedNet and it’s just a GP services network.

beautifulxdisasters · 07/07/2020 17:24

Are you in Waltham Forest area OP? My DSis lives there and I think Fednet is just the name for the evening/weekend GP service that presumably you accessed via 111? Never heard it anywhere else though

onedaysoonish · 07/07/2020 17:25

How about Waltham Forest GP federated network (Fednet) ? - from google.

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:27

My bloods were done on 16th June. It showed among other things that my mg was low 0.5. My consultant had a consultation with me about 3 days later and said ring your GP and get put on mg supplements as it may take a while for my letter to get there. So I've tried that, but no, I have to ring at 8am to get a consultation with a GP to ask them to action what they should have fucking actioned when they saw my blood results. Hence the mystery over this request to call them.

I will update - consultation is after 4pm tomorrow. But I guarantee it's them being utterly useless as usual and nothing for me to worry about I'm sure.

Yes, I'm in Waltham Forest.

I'll sit on the worry bench with you a while. My partner has finally taken himself to A&E after advice from the British Liver Trust. Let's hope we both have nowt to worry about hey?

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:45

bloodywhitecat I followed your thread - he's the guy with jaundice right?
So glad he went to A&E. Your GP sounded as shit as mine! Waiting times in A&E are really good these days as you don't have everyone in.

Hi op I work in a surgery just admin. At the moment most of the doctors clinics are telephone consultations rather than face to face but they do see patients if they need to. I'm not medically trained but we take the samples from the patient and print out the special sticker and form they can test for things like h pylori infections and faecal calprotectin and there is something called a FIT test then I think they can test for bugs / parasites ect. Hope you get some answers soon

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:48

bloodywhitecat Did he get the liver scan yet or have things worsened or how did you convince him to go?

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:49

Sleephead - now that you mentioned it, I recall seeing FIT test on the form!

That's him. I didn't manage it really, I emailed the British Liver Trust and one of their nurses emailed straight back and said her advice was A&E now. No scan yet. GP is quite happy to wait for the scan date, we haven't had it yet despite it being urgent, the GP said his liver and pancreatic functions were abnormal and his iron levels were too high but wouldn't do any more than say "We'll have to wait for the scan results". He's been there an hour now so I am hoping things are getting done.
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 17:58

Oh that's great bloodywhitecat. Well, great that he went finally. I knew from your posts that you wanted him to go but couldn't manage to convince him. Hopefully they'll do the scan this evening - have they taken his bloods yet? Some of them they get back in 5 mins. Some take a few hours. Hope he's not long waiting - is he still yellow? Well done you for emailed the Liver Trust. I actually had a post of mine deleted from your thread where someone had come on and asked without reading any posts whether your DH was a drinker so I replied that ye, you had clarified he drank a bottle of whiskey a day or something - telling her to read back through your posts. Oh well.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 18:02

I said it before, he should have been immediately referred to A&E with jaundice and even moreso with abnormal bloods.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 18:04

I hope it's something simple and nothing for him bloodywhitecat.

OP posts:
bloodywhitecat · 07/07/2020 18:12

A bottle of whisky a day! Grin! That was my grandma, she drank her way through life, Glennfiddich was her favourite. I haven't heard from him since he arrived at A&E so I don't know what is happening. I am waiting until I can put the fosterlings to bed, well the 8 month old at least the smallest baby will go up when I/we do until I hassle him. He's still very yellow and is losing weight (despite telling me he's not, he is). I haven't really been back to the thread, I hid it because it got too much. I knew he needed hospital but there was only so much I could do.

bloodywhitecat · 07/07/2020 18:15

Well he's on his way home, won't tell me what was said over the phone so I am guessing they did fuck all.

GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 18:28

Oh well. It all seems a little strange to me. I can't understand how blase they're being about him.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 07/07/2020 19:20

I took paracetamol 2 hours ago and still have pain, so now I'm convinced there's something blooming wrong. If I hadn't received that stupid text I'd just be presuming it's pain and maybe take a nurofen on top of the paracetamol. Now I'm wondering what if there's something wrong?? Lol. I'm the worst patient ever. Just tell me everything or nothing at all. Definitely changing GP surgeries next week. They're the worst I've ever dealt with.
