You know, the ones you bellow out in private when noones looking, the ones you 'shouldn't' like because you are too young, too old, too hip, too old fashioned...
I'm 34 and bloody 'love islands in the stream' by Dolly Parton. I mean, I love it. I know every word. It gets turned up in the car...Blush tell me your best worst

I want to Kiss you All Over by Exile.
Night Owl by Gerry Rafferty.
It's my Life by Talk Talk.
Such a Shame by Talk Talk
Rhiannon (the live version) by Fleetwood Mac.

Oooh, I love a good caterwaul sing-song. Smile

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 04/07/2020 20:57

I’m a Jolene singer too but I prefer the Myley Syrus version. I do a mean rendition of Days by Kirsty MacColl too.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/07/2020 20:59

Drops of Jupiter, yes!!!

I am the one and only

King and Queen of America or just the la la las at the beginning of There must be an angel, Eurythmics.

But I don't encourage it. I have a leaky soundtrack in my head all the time. Leaky because it escapes at inappropriate times... Like being in a meeting with NHS head honchos, bored rigid, suddenly singing that one line, followed by the next

We gotta get outta this place... If it's the last thing we ever do...

Or doing the bom bom bom's and tipping a colleague into singing that one word - Relax - in front of a really tense speaker.

My leaky soundtrack can be vicious!

ComeOnGordon · 04/07/2020 21:11

@Scout2016 happy to hear of another fan 😊

Staywithmemyblood · 04/07/2020 21:19

DD and I love belting out Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats in the car. We are both equally awful! 🙉🙉

Bookaholic73 · 04/07/2020 21:19

@Mushypeasandchipstogo I much prefer the Miley Cyrus version too. So much better.

APJ1 · 04/07/2020 21:28

@TroysMammy Same. The best/worst part is singing the long '99 red balloons go byyyyyy" towards the end!

babycornplease · 04/07/2020 21:31

@ComeOnGordon oooh! I'd forgotten about sometimes!!! I am currently rediscovering my love for James... they were the soundtrack for my uni days... along with cascada Grin

Beamur · 04/07/2020 21:34

We just had a family sing along to 'never tear us apart' by INXS

Graphista · 04/07/2020 21:36

I don’t believe in guilty pleasure songs. Like what you like. Don’t be a snobby cow, especially with yourself!

This! I have absolute 80's on most days at some point, usually while cooking and I unashamedly belt out and singalong to whatever's on. Power ballads are the best to belt out and the 80's are full of them! As we can see from this thread.

I do the same when watching certain films with music heavily featured too.

Current favourites are rock of ages and the pitch perfect movies. But my mums the same and a huge musicals fan so I also enjoy going back to those roots and singing along to sound of music or hello dolly or whatever.

Singing is good for you - especially at the moment! Increases lung capacity and strengthens the immune system.

balkanscot · 04/07/2020 21:37

The One and Only - Chesney Hawkes

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/07/2020 21:49

It’s light hearted .......

Really it is

And no one wants to hear me sing

babycornplease · 04/07/2020 21:50

@Scout2016 the levellers river flow, thanks for reminding me of this great band!

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 04/07/2020 21:51

Agree that Dolly Parton in great, especially Islands in the Stream an Nine to Five for me. As a pp said Yes by McAlmont & Butler - I sang that a lot when I was working my notice on a particularly horrible job.

If I'm 100% certain I'm alone I will sing Rude Boy by Rhiannon, and I also like singing Nothing Breaks Like a Heart by Mylie Cyrus, both with appropriate dance moves.

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 04/07/2020 21:51

Rhianna, obvs. Showing my age.

LunaNorth · 04/07/2020 21:53

I’m making a Spotify singalong playlist on the back of this thread.

LizzieVereker · 04/07/2020 21:55

Listen by Beyoncé. I have all kinds of accompanying gestures Grin

Jfw82 · 04/07/2020 21:57

@SandysMam

The Jesus Christ Superstar sound track is my fave, I love belting out all the parts in could we start again please!
Love an ALW musical ... know many well but for me start me off as narrator at beginning of Joseph and I think I can sing the whole show end to end and love it
thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2020 21:58

I love the musicals: tomorrow, spoonful of sugar, anything from Oliver!, hopelessly devoted,...all the classics. I can actually sing in tune, but I can't sing like a pop star, I like the clipped stagey style. Dh is a bit Hmmwhen I start belting out "aaaaaas loooooong, as 'e neeeeds meee' in my best cockney accent.

BackforGood · 04/07/2020 22:02

Not really secret, I'm out and proud Wink

My favourite 'belt it out when traveling alone in the car' CDs are:

Country Gold (a mix of Country classics that crossed over into the mainstream charts)
Bat Out of Hell (Meatloaf)
Witney Houston's Greatest Hits
Dolly Parton's Greatest Hits

PumpkinPie2016 · 04/07/2020 22:04

Dolly Parton 9 to 5

Nolans - I'm in the mood for dancing.

Blush anything by Black Lace Blush Takes me back to caravan holidays as a kid!
