to think Nigel Farage should be fined for breaking self isolation rules after USA travel

Went to the USA to the Tulsa rally.
Came back
Now pictured at a pub enjoying his pint.

Seems his excuse is that 'he has had a test and he's negative'

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-how-to-self-isolate-when-you-travel-to-the-uk/coronavirus-covid-19-how-to-self-isolate-when-you-travel-to-the-uk

As part of that:

" If you are tested and receive a negative result for coronavirus, you must continue to self-isolate until you have been in the UK for 14 days, even if your symptoms have gone"

"Nigel Farage
@Nigel_Farage
To all those screaming and shouting about me going to the pub.... I have been back from the USA for 2 weeks and I have been tested — the result was negative. Sorry to disappoint you. Cheers!"

Unless it's one rule for us and one rule for them?

To be honest I don't think anyone cares much any more because no one seems to be following government advice now, everyone is making their own assessments of their own situations and doing what they think is ok.

FizzyGreenWater · 04/07/2020 17:00

Every time I see a pic of Farage all I can think about is how much he must stink of fags Envy

(not envy)

WhySoSexist · 04/07/2020 17:08

I'm a bit confused. If he's been back for two weeks then he's allowed to go out... How does this break the rules?

bellinisurge · 04/07/2020 17:11

I think the stupid twat should be ignored.

OlaEliza · 04/07/2020 17:13

Isolation after travel has been scrapped.

Mirror2345 · 04/07/2020 17:19

He's been back 13 days, not two weeks, so he should still be isolating.

And it absolutely hasn't been scrapped for return visits from the US

netflixismysidehustle · 04/07/2020 17:22

He wasn't fined for travelling to Folkestone to film migrants either.

People in power are allowed to do what they want. They have instincts and other special powers that us normal people don't have.

There was no way he wasn't going to be photographed at a pub today.

Isolation after travel has been scrapped

Has it?

He's not been back 2 weeks. That's the point

cologne4711 · 04/07/2020 17:42

Farage won't be fined. He's speshul, like Cummings.

cologne4711 · 04/07/2020 17:42

Isolation after travel has been scrapped not for the US

WhySoSexist · 04/07/2020 17:42

I just assumed he'd been back for two weeks because you shared the quote saying he'd been back for two weeks.

HoldMyLobster · 04/07/2020 17:47

I loathe him, but given that he's been back 13 days rather than 14, it does seem a bit jobsworth to insist he waits till tomorrow to go out.

I'd just not give him the attention he clearly wants.

Violetparis · 04/07/2020 17:49

Ignore him, he'll use the publicity to his advantage.

Pisspotical · 04/07/2020 17:56

Nigel has nipped to his local for a pint.
It’s hardly sensational.
Have we really got that much time on our hands to be considering such trivia as this?

Mistlewoeandwhine · 04/07/2020 18:02

I blame NF ( oh what fitting initials!) for encouraging Cameron to allow a misinformed public to vote on Brexit and basically destroy this country. Lock him up for that.

ListeningQuietly · 04/07/2020 18:10

Farage went to the USA - COVID hotspot
Farage went to Trump Rally - COVID superspreader hotspot
Farage flew back to the UK
and went to the pub within the 14 day mandatory isolation period

But Hey, if Dominic Cummings and Stanley Johnson and Nigel Farage can break the rules
and only poor and black people get Lockdown fines
what do we care? Hmm

pointythings · 04/07/2020 18:11

He was probably just testing his eyesight. That's clearly allowed.

yeOldeTrout · 04/07/2020 18:15

he's not "in power" though is he?
Farage & Cummings tussel for power but I think Cummings wins no doubt. Farage is not "in power", he's just a chancer.

LastTrainEast · 04/07/2020 18:32

Right after we fine the Prime Minister's dad.

notimagain · 04/07/2020 18:32

Ignore him, he'll use the publicity to his advantage.

^This..

yeOldeTrout · 04/07/2020 18:35

Dunno where Stanley Johnson lives, but it should be up to the authorities there to decide if/how to monitor his movements. I can't stand BoJo but his dad is own person, not BoJo's responsibility. Let Stanley face his own music.

TheGreatWave · 04/07/2020 18:45

Well, all his supporters are put in force (FB), I am more annoyed that I keep seeing his ridiculous grin on my FB page.

ilovesooty · 04/07/2020 19:13

Exactly. Irrelevant arrogant twat.
UltimateWednesday · 04/07/2020 19:19

It's all in the timing. I'd love him to be guilty but I think it's likely that once the time difference is accounted for he had (just) been back for 14 days, meantime loads of lovely publicity and probably, the opportunity to "prove" everyone's out to get him for no reason.
