One is, one isn’t. The one that was open was so busy we decided not to bother.

catgirl1976 · 04/07/2020 14:03

They are but wild horses couldn’t drag me to one.

Herecomethehotstepper · 04/07/2020 14:04

I'm avoiding anything that reopens for at least the first 2 weeks!

dontlikebeards · 04/07/2020 14:07

Village yes
Town and surrounding area not until Monday

TwinMumSuperHero · 04/07/2020 14:07

Ours don't open until Monday

IgnoranceIsStrength · 04/07/2020 14:10

None of the local councils are opening them near us (west midlands). Not surprised. Was a typical Boris statement with no back up and the councils can't afford to provide regular cleaning or add additional signage

PeskyRooks · 04/07/2020 14:22

Our local one needs to get the waist high grass sorted out first!

danni0509 · 04/07/2020 14:26

Yes, I've taken my ds for half hour this morning, all the children seemed really excited to be on there.

Microwaveoven · 04/07/2020 14:27

No, fingers crossed Monday.

BendingSpoons · 04/07/2020 14:31

Yes our local authority opened them all and said they aren't cleaning them. We went to a small (slightly rubbish) one at 8:30 and were probably the first ones there (still rain drops on the equipment from the night). One other family arrived when we were there. DCs really enjoyed it but we'll probably leave it a few weeks before going again or to a more popular one.

SuperMumTum · 04/07/2020 14:34

Our local council are opening them on monday. No idea why the two extra days.

BendingSpoons · 04/07/2020 14:37

I reckon they think Monday will reduce crowds as more people will be at work/school.

MaggieFS · 04/07/2020 14:38

Yes, council opening them from today.

x2boys · 04/07/2020 14:54

No.idea ,but seeing as parents have been letting their kids play on the adventure playground behind my house since the start of lockdown I'm not sure how I could tell the difference.....

Same here.

The council keep taping them off and cable tying the swings up and the parents keep ripping the tape off and cutting the ties.

DinoGreen · 04/07/2020 15:02

We went this morning (DS age 4 so excited to be able to go again) and they hadn’t been properly opened up yet - swings were still cable tied up. We ignored that and played on everything else anyway - I could hardly tell him no after he was so happy.

namechange34 · 04/07/2020 15:05

We are on the border of two council areas. One opened all, the other opens them on Monday. They said they needed to get around to check them all before opening.

rosiejaune · 04/07/2020 15:27

I haven't looked, but I doubt it seeing as it's been closed off for months anyway, for work to be done on it. They don't prioritise children round here (unlike more affluent areas); the slide has been missing and the wooden steps around it fenced off for over a year already, and now they seem to be resurfacing it too, but very slowly.

bluechameleon · 04/07/2020 15:34

Town council run ones are, county council ones aren't. Town council ones all have limits of numbers of people allowed at once - it will be interesting to see whether people follow the rules. I was thinking of going in the week, maybe fairly early in the morning, and I will prepare the children for the possibility of it being full.

MylittleLovebug · 04/07/2020 15:35

Yes, ours are opening, went mid morning and only a couple of other kids in there, lots of hand gel and hd had a lovely time

Kitsandkids · 04/07/2020 15:56

No, our council has said they’re not opening any of them and have no date in mind for when they will. Personally I think they should check them for vandalism/rubbish left by yobs who might have been in them recently and then open them for parents to use their own common sense about hand washing etc. The one near me never gets busy anyway and I know for a fact it‘s not locked and it has been used by local families over the past few weeks, so the next sunny day I’m going to take the Government’s advice, not the council’s, and take my daughter there. We’d barely been out anywhere until about 2 weeks ago when we started visiting local parks (not the play parks) and she has so been looking forward to the play parks opening. She’s 3 and every toddler group, story time, soft play and play cafe is shut and could be for months yet so we will be going back to play parks ASAP!

Picklypickles · 04/07/2020 15:58

I don't know, if they are I can't imagine there being many people in them as its pouring down and rather foggy.

PlaygroundReviews · 04/07/2020 16:02

Winchester's playgrounds are all open. I've heard they aren't in some of the local villages though.

vanillandhoney · 04/07/2020 16:03

They're open, but it's blowing a gale and pissing it down, so they're absolutely deserted Grin

TeenPlusTwenties · 04/07/2020 16:05

Yes, the small one near me is now open and there was a family in there this morning.
