Most are open here and the council are updating their social media daily as they're all inspected for safety. We went to a quite popular one today, not too busy and all parents encouraged distancing and were armed with anti bac.
Today we went to cricket club, had a drink in the garden of our favourite cafe and went to a playground. It's the happiest I've seen DS in months and I'm prepared to take the small risk of catching Covid 19 to see him start to get back to the happy child he was a few months ago.

Borough council ones are, parish aren't. Big city ones near us opened yesterday which is a bit of a joke.

Sailingblue · 04/07/2020 16:33

Ours have opened and I’m relieved they had as I was worried they’d look at the guidance and not bothered. They’ve basically set it up as a ‘at your own risk’ type thing and asked adults to socially distance.

We went at 7:30 am, it was open and we were the only ones there. left at 10am, it was awesome. kids are so happy

Whatafustercluck · 05/07/2020 08:26

I've queried their continued closure here with a local councillor who had posted about hiw happy he was that businesses were opening again.

His response was that they have to make sure children are safe. I replied that it was somewhat ironic that I can now take my DC to the cinema, a restaurant, a theme park and a beer garden with a play area easier than I can go to an outdoor local play park.

Does anyone know if it is mainly labour run councils that have not opened the parks? I heard someone say it was the case but wasn't sure if it was true

Whatafustercluck · 05/07/2020 08:34

@Wishforsnow mine is Tory.

Ah perhaps not then! Mine is tory and they are all open so probably no correlation then

tabulahrasa · 05/07/2020 09:11

They’re open here.... I’ve seen very few children using the one my garden backs on to though since they have been open... and lots of teenagers drinking.

Kind of makes me wonder if they needed to be opened at all tbh.

DDiva · 05/07/2020 09:42

Play parks open here although weather was rubbish yesterday so dont think they were busy. We will go to our local park today.

Skysblue · 05/07/2020 09:47

We were the first ones there yesterday at 7am. It was covered with booze empties and silly string and those silver vaping thingys. I cleared it up a bit but we didn’t have a great time, not in any rush to go back.

Lockdownseperation · 05/07/2020 09:52

Our labour area isn’t open but that is because they are not up to date with their regular safety tests and risk assessments. People have seen council staff in the parks this week refilling sand etc so we are expecting them to reopen soon.

timeforawine · 05/07/2020 09:59

Nope. Local one needs maintenance apparently, others in the wider area open on Wednesday

Suze1621 · 05/07/2020 10:20

Ours are not yet open. Went to the park yesterday - mesh fencing right round play area, closed signs every couple of meters saying why and tape on the equipment itself. But the amount of parents with young children climbing over and pulling the tape off was unbelievable. This was in a large park with loads of room to run around, ride bikes and scooters, play ball with your own family so no need to cram into a closed play area.

Soubriquet · 05/07/2020 10:21

Couldn’t even if they wanted to..

Older teens have completely wrecked it and it’s broken and dangerous
