Would you eat this lobster?

The instructions say ‘don’t worry if there is a little bit of green on meat and shell it’s totally fine - it’s tomally’.

That’s just the meat from 1 scooped out - whole thing looked even worse. Who the hell would want to eat that?

DH has got the hump, as I said I couldn’t eat it, so tried washing it off and has now burnt the scallop starter, just to top it off!

Well I love lobster but I’ve never eaten one that looked like that and I’m not sure I ever will Confused

TheHighestSardine · 03/07/2020 20:02

For everyone: That's not tail that's green, it's organs. Lobster liver basically.

managedmis · 03/07/2020 20:03

Vegan lobster?

knittingaddict · 03/07/2020 20:06

Lobster can go off really badly.

I have a robust attitude to food dates and stuff, but there is no way I would eat that.

What's the point. You won't enjoy it now.

QuestionableMouse · 03/07/2020 20:06

Honestly I glanced at the pic before reading and wonders what lobster you were talking about. Was it freshly caught or frozen?

Houseworkavoider · 03/07/2020 20:08

Nope. I’ve never seen lobster that green.

Doggybiccys · 03/07/2020 20:09

Looks like a food challenge on I’m a celeb. It’s a no from me

knittingaddict · 03/07/2020 20:09

I've only eaten lobster tails. So it's not the meat? That might make me reconsider if that's normal for the gross bits.

FizzAfterSix · 03/07/2020 20:11

Awful to eat an animal that has been boiled alive anyway.

WwMILd · 03/07/2020 20:12

Graffitiqueen yes it is.

So I bit the bullet, here it is cooked (but green washed off thoroughly according to DH).

It was lovely, will wait to see what my stomach is like in the morning.

Have chocolate pave to look forward to next, and enjoyed the wine - so all not lost Smile.

I will probably never eat lobster cooked at home again though.

Have you got a tinned Fray Bentos steak pie in the cupboard op?
If so, have that instead.😉

QuestionableMouse · 03/07/2020 20:17

Hope you have two loos! No way would I have eaten that, and food poisoning caused by seafood can be really nasty.

Aahhwoof · 03/07/2020 20:23

Well, that’s me never eating lobster...

WwMILd · 03/07/2020 20:26

^Wingedharpy*, alas no Fray Bentos. DH is in shielding group, and was most put out when Gov boxes were being delivered, as lots of people had them, but they weren’t in his Grin

*Questionablemouse I could do with losing a few pounds!

This ^ Googled and found it.

I had no idea about it! Like mooshed up avocado. Hmm. I love lobster but wouldn't eat this bit. It's like finding eggs when you peel prawns. Blugh. (sorry seafood)

Graffitiqueen · 04/07/2020 20:43

@WwMILd hope you're ok today.

I'm just about to tuck into my rick stein lobster. Was also a little bit green but hoping it tastes good!!

WwMILd · 06/07/2020 19:39

@Graffitiqueen

Still ok after 48 hrs Grin. Hope you enjoyed yours too!

Cbatothinkofausername · 06/07/2020 23:23

I worked with a chef that made a butter out of it. It was the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten in my life Envy not envy

Pomegranatemolasses · 06/07/2020 23:27

Wow, have cooked loads of lobster and very familiar with tomally, but have honestly never seen anything as green as that! Glad you didn't waste it and are still ok.
