For: Airlines say its safe, people will be wearing masks, we have FFPP3 masks ( will probably get it sooner or later anyway though)
Against- can we beleive airlines when they say the air is safe? I'm blood group A,and aged nearly 60,(apparently higher risk of having Covid severely factors).travelling with 2 teenagers. If we don'tgo now, we will have to have a holiday next year in a place and a time that we really don't want. This will be our last holiday for some time, as like many, my husband has lost his job and at nearly 60, is notoptimistic about getting another one!
I have to say, we flew during Feb when I think the infection rate was probably much higher than anyone realised, and we were fine.

@scotsinoz it's funny because we left Oz last year after 9 years there and to be honest I'm glad we aren't there now. Closed borders, no chance of seeing family or them getting to us and for how long? I'm concerned for Australia because I just cannot see how they can open up and keep this virus out while it is anywhere in circulation, without huge damage to the economy.

About a third of my FB friends are Australian and it is just a constant daily bombardment of smugness from Australia tbh mixed in with vitriol about still having measures in place when they don't have the virus.

Me and my DH both worked in the higher education sector where people are now being made to go part time because there is no money. At some point, Australia is going to have to open back up or its economy is going to absolutely tank and I can't see how the majority of my Australian friends are going to cope with the restrictions that are no doubt going to have to be brought in. A lot of then are still patting themselves on the back for "surviving iso" when the schools closed for about 4 weeks and they were still allowed to meet friends and grandparents!

Is there a sense of 'its over' where you are, or are people still worried?

I went to Croatia for the first time in September, I thought it was a beautiful country.
I don't think you said when you were going ? Personally I wouldn't be going until quarantine at each end sorted out, but as it's already booked - I thought you were talking about booking something new - I'd be tempted to wait and see what happens.

I wouldn't this year. Maybe next, depending on what happens over the winter respiratory virus season.

For those of you considering it this year, check your travel insurance carefully - FCO is still advising against all but essential travel everywhere abroad. Travelling against FCO formal advice can void insurance. So check before you travel (the Covid ban isn't like other bans, so insurers might take a different view, if infection is the only reason, but you need to know that, not just assume)

@AuntieMeemz it sounds as though you are in a similar situation to us with regard to the flight being the worry but feeling confident of being OK once you are there. It's so very difficult to decide what to do isn't it? And with regards your alternative of going in March , who knows how that may be impacted by any second wave which may occur over next winter.
