To ask what these lumps look like to you?

DS keeps getting these lumps that look like bites. He has just returned to nursery and has been to the park a few times too. We don't have any pets but do get mosquitoes.

After googling I am confused as to what they could be.

He has two on his hands, three on his face and three on his arm.

They look like bed bugs to me but I'm not expert.

Dontcoughonme · 01/07/2020 20:34

I hope not @BustyBroke he just got a brand new mattress, bed and furniture. Although I did get a cushion of eBay. 😣 Maybe it is that.

Keeps getting them as in they go and return?

Or more coming out?

Could he maybe have chicken pox?

IDidntChoseThePondLife · 01/07/2020 22:33

Bed bug bites tend to be in a line where they kind of graze as they amble up you (sorry). This is useful info, if it looks like you have ink marks on your bedding or mattress that's them.

Is there chickenpox going round? My DD had chickenpox twice both times very mildly, so you can get it more than once.

TARSCOUT · 01/07/2020 22:37

looks like chickenpox, how is he feeling?

Dontcoughonme · 01/07/2020 22:39

He has had 3 appear one day on his face, the next day 3 more on the top of his arm and then two today, two days later on his knuckles. Over the since Saturday I would say. As they've aged they've gotten more red, raised and hard. Some look like they have liquid in. Not itchy. I've given him calamine, sudocrem and antihistamines but they've not eased, just got more red and angry. No crusting.

It could be chicken pox, I'd rather that than anything else honestly. Praying it isn't bed bugs.

We blitzed the room, washed all soft furnishings and hoovered the skirting boards, mattress etc. He has a white room, pale bedding and furniture so it would be easy to see bed bug droppings, I hope.

That looks like chicken pox to me

FlyRobinFly · 01/07/2020 22:41

Look like heat lumps to me. Caused by sweating. Did the heatwave hit where you are?

Me and my brother always used to get them and a nice cool bath helped.

girlcrushonvillanelle · 01/07/2020 22:42

Definitely not bedbugs OP, or at least not typically their style

Mawbags · 01/07/2020 22:45

Impetigo?

Gotthetshirt23 · 01/07/2020 22:45

Chicken pox ?

Geppili · 01/07/2020 22:48

Chicken pox

londongirl12 · 01/07/2020 22:49

Could you take him to the pharmacy?

LockdownMayhem · 01/07/2020 22:49

Could well be chicken pox if you say they look watery inside. Google pics of chicken pox and see if they look similar. Some kids get fewer spots than others, so it may be he has a mild case, if it is that.

OneThingAfterAnother2020 · 01/07/2020 22:53

Sounds like Chicken Pox to me then, with gradually coming out.

Warm baths normally bring them out.

Not sure whether all schools still the same, but with my lo's they couldn't attend until all spots had scabbed over.

There has been cases in schools round me in last couple of weeks.

Justkeepswimmingdory · 01/07/2020 22:54

Chicken pox

Winter2020 · 01/07/2020 22:55

I don't know if this affects children but I have seen threads about people with a few chicken pox type spots that they believe are post viral rash. Has your son been ill?

Foobydoo · 01/07/2020 22:56

Chicken pox

Wasywasydoodah · 01/07/2020 22:57

Maybe chicken pox but you usually get some on the torso and they’re itchy. Hand foot and mouth can give you blistery spots and can appear anywhere in addition eg arm. Have you checked feet? Sore throat?

Dontcoughonme · 01/07/2020 23:16

No sore throat, he gets tonsillitis often and I've checked down there three times this week, due to viruses and nursery asking not to send in ill children.

No temperature now, however last week when it was hot he was very hot and sweaty. He also had to have a nap on Friday due to complaining of a headache which is very unlike him. He has been very happy in himself this week otherwise, and is eating well - definitely a growth spurt as he has shot up.

I'm leaning towards chicken pox also now. Just checked his bedding again with a UV light and nothing on the sheets, but drool lol.

I'll send the GP a photo or take photos to the pharmacy tomorrow. I don't really want to drag him around infecting others.

Thank you all so much. I can't stop itching and I've washed my face twice since starting this thread lol.

They look like mosquito bites to me.

Euclid · 01/07/2020 23:24

Surely this is a question for a doctor, not an Internet forum?

Callipygion · 01/07/2020 23:26

Are they itchy? When my son was young he was covered in spots like that and they were mosquito bites, they loved him.

Chicken pox spots are more irregular shaped those look round.
