DS keeps getting these lumps that look like bites. He has just returned to nursery and has been to the park a few times too. We don't have any pets but do get mosquitoes.

After googling I am confused as to what they could be.

He has two on his hands, three on his face and three on his arm.

Until you explained how they're appearing I thought bites, but definitely looks and sounds like chicken pox to me. My eldest (27 now) came out 3 or 4 new spots a day over ten days when he had chicken pox when he was young. It was a nightmare in comparison to my other two sons who broke out almost over night head to toe. They were very sick with them - high fever etc but my eldest wasn't at all, just a bit cranky with the itching. You're doing the right thing with anti histamine and calamine - cool shower or bath might also help x

Is he attending school / nursery? If not, is it likely that he's been close enough to others to catch chickenpox?

concernedforthefuture · 01/07/2020 23:34

I think more likely flea bites.

Dontcoughonme · 01/07/2020 23:35

Yes he is at nursery, has been for two weeks.

Not itchy.

Yes probably do need to go to the doctor's about it - like I've already said. But unfortunately they don't answer at this time of night and my Amazon basket is full of bed bug killing products waiting for me to purchase in a panic.

Looks like hand foot and mouth. My daughter had them on her hands and legs. None on her feet or round her mouth. She had the spots a fair few days before she actually fell ill. She was very grumpy with it when it hit.

Itisbetter · 01/07/2020 23:36

Chicken pox. Keep him in loose cool clothes and home.

Thank you everyone! I'll hold off the pest sprays and get to the pharmacy. I appreciate your time and opinions. 😘

Really odd that you've posted this as my son has this exact rash but he's a teenager and has had chicken pox. Not ill with it but covered in spots with more appearing every day. Been near no one as shielding. GP says watch and wait. No crusting or itching. I think it is post viral but the virus must have been very mild.

It could be chicken pox or it could be molluscum contagiosum. The images on Google look worse than your son's, but my daughter has it at the moment and they look the same as your photos. They recommend you don't treat them even though they're highly contagious, and they'll disappear themselves.
