To want to share my unhealthy tea (dinner I suppose)

Re-heated chip shop chips left over from earlier today (DC tea), a pie, baked beans with a smidgen of chilli sauce, a bit of gravy and some vintage cheddar grated on top. Will probably have some lettuce too because we are weird and like lettuce/spinach with hot food.
Let the Envy (not envy) commence!

I'm a southern as they come but still can appreciate gravy. Admittedly it come behind curry sauce which is the ultimate chippy chips accompaniment.

JinglingHellsBells · 27/06/2020 21:06

Yuck.

Not just unhealthy but meaningless- what a weird mix.

InThisMultiverse · 27/06/2020 21:07

That’s a pretty good binner. Fit for the bin, but sometimes just has to be done.

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 21:08

@VelociraptorRex tell me about it! Here it’s usually roasted veg, veg curry, cous cous or rice, tons of salad.
I’m so excited to be having a dirty tea!

"I don’t usually use salad cream as an evening condiment and so it may well be mayonnaise" *@Snooks1971*

Beans, gravy and mayonnaise together. You must have a strong stomachGrin

Omg I do luckily!

I'd go cheese or gravy but not both! Filthy! Grin

Lovemusic33 · 27/06/2020 21:13

I’m confused at ‘left over chips’ 😂, we had chips earlier and there were no leftovers, if there were I would eat them now but sadly no one ever leaves chips.

DD 12 has commandeered the last pot of curry sauce. It’s in the fridge to be reheated too. Will make do with gravy...

Chips + Gravy = bleugh
Gravy + Beans = bleugh x 2

I daren’t ask what sort of pie. Tell me it wasn’t a pork pie.,.

I'm as northern as they come but can admit that one of the best chips and gravy meals I've ever had was in a pub in Plymouth.

It might have had something to do with the fact that this was during a scuba diving trip in February when the water was just about as cold as it gets.

randolph78 · 27/06/2020 21:22

oh dear, it's a shame you split chilli sauce on top of what would have been a fab meal!

BarbaraofSeville · 27/06/2020 21:24

Tell me it wasn’t a pork pie

Of course it fucking wasn't. Pork pies are served hot with mushy peas and mint sauce. On bonfire night. Have some standards people FFS.

jessstan2 · 27/06/2020 21:26

Reheated chips are nice. I sprinkle with sea salt and basalmic vinegar, then saute gently.

Eat what you like, who cares?

Pity you and the kids didn't all eat together, sounds like it was a lovely meal.

It's a bit like "leftover wine" or "leftover Easter eggs", there's no such beast in this house!
TheShoesa · 27/06/2020 21:28

I used to throw chippy chips away, but then thought how wasteful it was.

If you can get over the way they look after a night in the fridge (mmm, congealed lard) they reheat in the oven surprisingly well and are crispy and taste better than fresh IMHO.

Salad cream or mayo is much better with chips than tomato ketchup. I used to have a chip cob as a school dinner back in the 80s and mayo or salad cream always went in too.

SpeckledyHen · 27/06/2020 21:28

🤢🤮 except the lettuce and cheddar :)

I thought the OP had won the prize for the most disgusting combination of old chips, gravy and lettuce, but well done, it's yours.

Euclid · 27/06/2020 21:30

Sounds awful.

Nackajory · 27/06/2020 21:32

Are you having bread with it so you can make a butty?

mumwon · 27/06/2020 21:32

you don't reheat takeaway f & c (scandalized!!!) you overeat them (& suffer later -basically you pig out) f & c were our family treat when I was a child
(shakes head)

Well I've served that to about 30 people at every bonfire night for the last twenty years and would face a riot if I didn't so we'll have to agree to disagree.

Amazing how food preferences vary across a relatively small country.

user69 · 27/06/2020 21:40

I've never eaten a hot pork pie in my life. I might try it though.

littlealexhorne · 27/06/2020 21:44

Gravy on lettuce?! The rest I could accept but thats surely too far!

LoseLooseLucy · 27/06/2020 21:57

Try it, a chip butty with next day chip shop chips are the best

I honestly can't with reheated chips 😷 (and I'm Northern, so definitely not averse to fresh chip butties, or chips and gravy. I also like gravy and beans with chips and some chicken 😬).

essexmum777 · 27/06/2020 22:02

Will there be a pic? (or it didn't happen)
