To want to share my unhealthy tea (dinner I suppose)

Re-heated chip shop chips left over from earlier today (DC tea), a pie, baked beans with a smidgen of chilli sauce, a bit of gravy and some vintage cheddar grated on top. Will probably have some lettuce too because we are weird and like lettuce/spinach with hot food.
Let the Envy (not envy) commence!

To me this is food porn

Ohtherewearethen · 27/06/2020 20:35

I don't like chip shop chips first time round but my husband does. He reheated some for a chip butty the next day and said it was the best chip butty he'd had in his life. He reheated them in the air frier so they went crispy rather than more soggy and mushy. I can't comment as I don't like them at all at any stage of the pimping process.

BroodyBridget · 27/06/2020 20:36

Oh bloody hells bells OP!

I've ate some right grotty shit in my time but even I'd draw the line at that concoction.. Ought to be ashamed of yourself Grin

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:37

@Shitfuckoh I am definitely not pregnant, I’m 49. I don’t usually use salad cream as an evening condiment and so it may well be mayonnaise.

Sounds amazing

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:39

Ooh I’ve never done an AIBU before with votes and they are almost split 50/50, YANBU winning at 53%.

@BroodyBridget I am ashamed! Thank god this is an anonymous forum Grin

OMG freaky reading this as Dh had chippy chips earlier and he said his aunty use to keep them in fridge and reheat in chip pan. We debated if to keep the ones he had left but he said was not that nice so we never.

Jiggeriepokerie · 27/06/2020 20:46

Don't underestimate recooked chippy chips! I buy a large portion of chips, eat a few then freeze the rest. Heated up in the oven makes them better than first time around.

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:48

They do look like disgusting frozen cardboard chips when they’re cold - I imagine because of the amount of fat that cools and solidifies (not really selling them am I?) but reheating them -gently- I have never re-fried them, they taste very good! Pick the fat chips not the shards.
Didn’t Heston do some thrice cooked chips or something?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Said much more succinctly than my waffling!

Gravy and beans together sounds so disgusting.

Agree that the haters must be southerners who are genetically programmed to not appreciate the delight that is chips and gravy, nor have experienced the vastness of a northern portion of chips.

The Mumsnet chicken has nothing on the scale of that bad boy, which literally can feed a family for a week.

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:51

@formerbabe

Gravy and beans together sounds so disgusting.
It does I agree, but if it’s a small amount of thick gravy then it isn’t. Honest.

EerieSilence · 27/06/2020 20:53

baked beans are gross.
The rest is great. Why not?

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:53

@BarbaraofSeville don’t get me started on the MN chicken when I can’t even throw away left over chip shop chips!

Dirty tea :)

Jenasaurus · 27/06/2020 20:56

Photo please Op, I am trying to imagine where the lettuce would sit on your plate.

Snooks1971 · 27/06/2020 20:56

This is turning into one of those AIBU threads when the OP only agrees with the positive posts, I’m sorry. I will be slipping away soon into a carb/gin coma and so won’t keep banging the reheated chip drum. Promise.

@NotPayingAttention

Sounds lovely, obviously terrible for your waistline 😆

What's with all the gravy haters? I'd be mortally offended if you didn't put gravy on this meal. Must all be southerners.

Have you nowt moist?

I am indeed a southerner, transplanted oop north where gravy seems accepted, I'll never fathom why chips are made to be fantastically crispy only to soggify them with gravy Grin

It’s not ready yet, the pies are in the oven. Lettuce will be on top, scattered with abandon. It’s not gonna look good!

@Snooks1971 I'm only jealous because I've had healthy green lentils and chicken for tea, when I'm dying for chips loaded with chilli and cheese Grin
