Are any of you considering going away in the summer hoildays??

We are looking at a local getaway that is not to far for a week in August.

What is everyone else doing?

No, not bothering this year. I would hate living in a holiday destination and people heading out on their holidays with this all going on.

daysofpearlyspencer · 25/06/2020 15:53

Not bothering also though I would love to get away. Think it could be a bit grim this year and probably not very enjoyable. Going to have days and meals out soon, (not the beach), we hope and look forward to next year.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/06/2020 15:54

two weeks to go!!!

going to a barn/cottage that I usually use two or three times a year, I booked it few weeks ago for the first available date, knowing that I could change it if lockdown didn't happen.

It's about an hour and a half drive away, will go to the beach and walking, but equally happy to veg out on the farm & read/do nothing. I usually eat there rather than out - it's a bit rural, so can't drink with a mealout. but I've booked a couple of lunches at favourite restaurants.

mynameiscalypso · 25/06/2020 15:56

Yes, flights booked for late July. Working on the basis that there will be air bridges in place by then and the FCO will have changed the travel advice. Friends who live where we're going say that life is pretty much back to normal there.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/06/2020 15:56

I meant lifting of lockdown!
going back in September too

yearinyearout · 25/06/2020 16:08

Yep, I'm hoping for several short breaks in the UK, I've booked the first one for July.

Bonkerz · 25/06/2020 16:20

Off Great Yarmouth on 13/7. It's a holiday park but have a chalet so happy to go beach and just chill in a new environment. Not bothered about entertainment really.

newtb · 25/06/2020 16:22

Going to a rented house in early September for 2 weeks, about 100 miles away from home (live in SW France)

CherryBlossomPink · 25/06/2020 16:24

Hoping to do a cruise to canaries in October and a trip to Morocco in December. Don’t usually holiday in summer due to work commitments.

OneForMeToo · 25/06/2020 16:31

Camping. Not fussed about swimming/entertainment etc. Quite happy to be in my tent with a change of views.

ClashCityRocker · 25/06/2020 16:31

Yep, due to go self catering in July.

We will take food with us and mostly just chill out at the lodge and do a bit of walking and a lot of drinking!

It's what we usually do on holiday so I'm really looking forward to it.

piefacedClique · 25/06/2020 19:33

I’ve just booked super cheap flights to Lanzarote.::: less than £80 each. We have our own apartment which is away from others so as long as we can fly we will go

richard1471 · 25/06/2020 19:44

In September. Prepared for 14 days at home on return if the country does not come to an agreement with the UK.

RoseMartha · 25/06/2020 23:15

I doubt it. I am having to move home at some point in next two to three months depending on speed of sale.

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/06/2020 23:19

We’re off to Norfolk next week but I’m already scared as to how busy the beaches will be!!!

Notimeforaname · 25/06/2020 23:27

Greece and Albania last week in August and first week in September.

Pipandmum · 25/06/2020 23:32

Blew our holiday budget going to the US at Christmas so we didn't plan on a holiday this summer. However both kids were supposed to go abroad (son with girlfriend, daughter with school). We are planning a Spain trip next summer (though GCSE schedule depending...).

JaniceWebster · 25/06/2020 23:43

Of course!

The problem will be to find enough availability, but after being stuck at home for months (and Easter then May holiday cancelled), I can't wait to get out of here. There are only so many places you can access on a day trip.

AnnaSW1 · 25/06/2020 23:44

Yep. Have booked a seaside staycation. A quiet spot. Can't wait to get out of central London and catch a sea breeze.

DamnYankee · 25/06/2020 23:54

Mountains. We live in the foothills of Colorado, so not very far away.
The condo will still be four walls, but a different four walls. We probably won't dine out, but the hiking should be beautiful!

DamnYankee · 25/06/2020 23:55

Late July...

CupofHorlicks · 25/06/2020 23:58

No, seem to have to work all the time and not much time or money to join the holiday seeking scrum. Hoping for something decent next year, this year will probably do days out, restaurants, cinema etc

copperoliver · 26/06/2020 00:10

Not going. X

starfishmummy · 26/06/2020 00:16

Nope. We cancelled our UK beach holiday as DS is shielding. Having seen and read about the crowds its the right decision. There will be local days out if we can

Sayyousayme2020 · 26/06/2020 00:23

We are staying put this year, we usually heads away in July for my birthday but not this year. We’ve postponed our wedding to next year so going to concentrate on decorating house this year, new build and I’m going insane looking at white walls 24/7
