How many knives, forks and spoons do you have?!

Really I'm just being nosey but we have 8 of each and 16 tea spoons for a family of 4.

Sometime I run out of items when the dishwasher is on and I'm now thinking we should get another set.

So how many do you have and how many people live in your home?

Too many forks.
Not enough spoons.

I've never counted! We have a "best" cutlery set that was a wedding present and only comes out for special occasions that I think is a 6 person setting, but our every day stuff the remnants of 3 or 4 old sets. I've probably got about 12-15 of everything except teaspoons. They of course run away with the odd socks so there are never enough. Oh and I've got a set of fish knives and forks. The forks have been absorbed into the every day stuff but the knives never get used. Nothing much matches in our house but the only person who cares is my youngest child who always insists on a matching knife and fork.

10 of everything for everyday use. I also have a set of 12 good ones for special occasions. My husband calls those the "too good to be used knives and forks". Each setting has its only little box and every single piece has it's own plastic sleeve and I always hand wash them. I also have 8 extra sharp steak knives for when we BBQ. They come in stainless steel case and each has their own sleeve and I also hand wash those. As I write this I can now see why DH thinks I'm a little bit nuts about knives and forks. How on earth did knives and forks become my thing.

I always serve forks with dessert spoons. Can't abide people poking at their food to try to get it onto a spoon....
