To ask if you will let your children use playgrounds?

Playgrounds are opening next week and already I've heard from a few parents who are saying they won't let their children anywhere near them.

DS has been desperate to go and I'm of the opinion that the risk is very, very, low. Just wondering what other people's thoughts are?

Absolutely! Several close to us almost never have anyone else on them so can't wait.
Plus hoping the ones at the zoo will be open when we visit in a few weeks - keep need to play!

Kids not keep!

Davodia · 24/06/2020 17:47

It’s a moot point because our local playgrounds won’t be reopening. The government has given permission for them to reopen, but the final decision rests with the local council which owns and operates each playground. Just because they’re allowed to be open doesn’t mean the council has to open them. Our council has decided not to.

Our park was open last week. Play equipment was not shut or sealed off and neither was the outdoors gym.

We used the park. I thought I had missed the government reopening them as whilst it was not busy, it was definitely back to normal.

@purpleme12

I know I thought that too! Couldn't quite believe she'd written that!
Me too. It made me really sad. That's just bloody cruel.
Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 24/06/2020 18:36

Yep absolutely

Cam2020 · 24/06/2020 18:38

As long as people are stringent about hygiene, it should be fine!

Ponoka7 · 24/06/2020 18:53

We've been using them for a couple of weeks now. At tje peak of infection children were playing and mixing normally and the infection/transmission rate among them was very low. We didn't see children in dance, choir and martial art clubs, coming down with bad symptoms, so I think there isn't really a risk.

Whatelsecanipossiblydo · 24/06/2020 19:06

We have most play equipment in our garden so don’t really need a park but I have to admit to letting my dds friends come in and play with her. It’s just good to see the kids have some sort of normality. As a group of parents we agreed that at this point their mental health was a priority and with them not being in a year group allowed back at school, they needed to socialise.

Whatafustercluck · 24/06/2020 19:07

Yes. I can't wait.

SpnBaby1967 · 24/06/2020 19:51

Absolutely! Usually my kids head over to the couple of parks near us by themselves, meet friends and even hang out there on their way home from school. It's been gutting to see them taped off.

flack · 25/06/2020 11:45

If it's legal my kids are allowed to do it.

BornOnThe4thJuly · 25/06/2020 12:44

@VeganVeal

I will probably take my children to the park to watch the others play but wont let them play just in case
Please tell me that was some sort of strange Joke?? You’re not seriously going to do that to your kids are you?
