Other than drinking Fanta lemon, getting the paddling pool up and eating grilled bbq meat at lunchtime to try and recreate that holiday feeling what else can I do, we have been shielding and trying to make it feel different for when I’m not at work....

@Glendaruel

My boss packed a suitcase and went to spare room and cooked Italian food for week!
I love this one so much!
MrsA2017 · 21/06/2020 16:46

A naked nap and then a shower before getting ready for dinner

Happycamper78 · 21/06/2020 16:47

We've done a different country's food each night..Spanish paella, Greek souvlaki, pasta vongole etc with starters etc. Unfortunately it has been torrential storms most of the week...but should be warm next week which really will help. Breakfast in the garden etc.

nevermorelenore · 21/06/2020 16:53

Download the Radio Garden app and you can listen to music stations from around the world. Nothing like blasting some Spanish tunes to make you feel like you are by the pool.

Watch live beach webcams. I like this one of lanzarote: m.youtube.com/watch?v=phUQ3yVYFvA

Absolutely stuff yourself at breakfast then sit in the sun surviving on crisps, diet coke and booze until 9PM. Wear a wristband and you can feel like you're doing AI whenever you grab a beer from the kitchen.

TherapistInATabard · 21/06/2020 16:53

Use aftersun instead of moisturiser so you smell like you’re on holiday

SpeckledyHen · 21/06/2020 17:01

Spray tan everyday until you are mahogany.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 21/06/2020 17:05

And don't forget to add a few tan lines with the fake tan, too.

pigeon999 · 21/06/2020 17:09

Ask dh to give you a candlelit massage with music
Cocnut spray always makes me think of somewhere tropical
Party music with theme nights in the evening, dress up for dinner!!

SandysMam · 21/06/2020 17:10

Ha ha two day old newspaper really made me laugh whoever said that Grin

Hopeisnotastrategy · 21/06/2020 17:10

Buy some new drinking glasses and plates from the supermarket. Extra points for buying them from the charity shop and half of them not matching. 😄

Go out for a cooked breakfast and eat takeaways.

Buy a new air freshener so your house smells different and move the furniture around.

Buy one or two exotic plants in pots and put them on the patio.

SandysMam · 21/06/2020 17:10

Carry your money in a screw top plastic container around your neck.

mintyroller · 21/06/2020 17:11

Mini disco playlists on a loop

Standrewsschool · 21/06/2020 17:18

Read a trashy novel.

Go to Lidl/aldi/Netto rather than tesco/Sainsbury.

Dress up for your evening meal, and drink wine whilst getting ready.

fodderbeet · 21/06/2020 17:21

Go longhaul by wandering around the house and garden for a couple of hours with fully packed cases, checking that your passport is still in your bag every 15 minutes, and shouting at your children. Sleep on your kitchen chairs at the table overnight with a tea towel instead of a blanket. As soon as everyone is settled, pop some microwave meals on to cook and eat them with flimsy cutlery. Leave the empty containers in front of you for 20 minutes and remember to wait at least 10 minutes outside the bathroom door before using it.

LellyMcKelly · 21/06/2020 17:22

Watermelon and really strong coffee for breakfast.
Go to the corner shop in your flip flops for some fresh bread
Eat olives in the patio with a glass of wine before dinner
Buy some crappy turquoise jewellery
Have a weird liquer after your dinner
Play europop at every opportunity
Go skinny dipping in your paddling pool
Get up really early and put a towel on your deck chair

lootsharks · 21/06/2020 17:29

Start drinking after breakfast. Carry on all day, sit in your garden with no sun cream and then dance to Agadoo in the garden until the small hours. Wear a skimpy bikini and play beach volleyball.

bibblebobbleblackbobble · 21/06/2020 17:31

Wasn't there an episode of To the Manor Born where Audrey pretends to go on holiday at home? There was a sun lamp and records involved I seem to recall. And the butler reading things out of guide books.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/06/2020 17:35

Sand everywhere, especially in your bed.

justasking111 · 21/06/2020 17:37

This one takes me back to Menorca holiday club the DCs absolutely loved it every single day they would finish around the pool with this one.

bibbitybobbitycats · 21/06/2020 17:49

@Duggeehugs82

We also hosted a music festival in our garden (just me , husband and 2 children), 3 days music from youtube on tv in garden on homemade stage
Oh, your poor neighbours!
MotherofTerriers · 21/06/2020 17:50

Keep iced coffee (or tea) in the fridge.
Barbecue sardines
rolls and cold meat and cheese for everyone to help themselves at lunchtime
Put your swimsuit on under your clothes when you get up in the morning
Lots and lots of cocktails and sangria
