Should NHS staff go ahead in queues?

I have only done a few times, and got some evil looks from the others queuing. I was knackered and needed some essentials and needed to pick my children up from school as I have hardly seen them so thought 'just this once, again'-might not do it again!
It sort of felt like all the clapping in the world and rainbows doesn't mean much in the real world, but I might be a bit more careful about waving my lanyard around in the future (and yes, i'm core ward NHS staff working on covid wards fwiw).
Any thoughts from others very welcome.

So much jealousy.

‘They just work in admin’ well our admin staff had a terrible time. Loads of overtime. Having to rearrange thousands of appointments and deal with so many anxious and angry phone calls. Abuse from the public when they were on front desk. We’ve had security guards on the ward doors for months now.

I was in every day over the worst period and then lost my job because despite everything there are many trusts not hiring and my contract has ended (fixed term secondment). This has had a massive impact on my physical and mental health, working 50+ hours a week for 2 months in a really stressful environment to working a couple of days a week on the bank while I try to find a new job in a pandemic. I’m finding it hard to even get up in the morning.

So yes actually I am going to use this little tiny perk on occasion.

There is no point arguing about it with other posters. The supermarkets have offered it and it is upto the individual whether they want to take up the offer or not. Unfortunately every benefit under the sun is going to be abused by a minority few that don't actually need it.

Those who are so worked up that it shouldn't exist should petition to the supermarkets to remove it instead of wasting time attacking people on here.

Amazing how many posters happen to know the complete national picture wrt COVID and general workload within the NHS from a friend/family member working there when these things are only discussed at senior management level within the NHS
