BLM and track and trace.

Given the fact that the track and trace app is not going to be available for a while and not everyone has symptoms. Should the government invite all the people who have attended recent protests to have a test for Covid?

Well no?

If the issue is protesters/ Corona, then why worry about BLM protesters but not the far right ones?

Ponoka7 · 19/06/2020 12:22

@Kitmerow, people retained the right to protest. While the new guidance was ignored, their fundamental rights were upheld. The right to protest trumps social distancing.

Until DC is fined and Rabb (walked into Parliament yesterday with his hand on another Minister's shoulder) , no other fines, can be issued.

It would be good if mass testing could be done. We'd get a good picture about transmission.

Covid isn't causing deaths in migrant camps, like we thought it would. Migrants are testing positive, but there's no' out of the ordinary' deaths. There's been efforts for people to be outside and only sleeping in their tents. Likewise illegal immigrants are testing positive, but the death rate isn't high, neither is the hospitalisation rate.

So it would be useful to know outside transmission rates. Of course people could be getting infected on the journey home, but it would still be useful to know.

The Memorial day outdoor celebrations in the US caused a spike, even among teens.

  1. Goady, racist nonsense thread.
  1. Unless we're going to test white beach, park, mall goers?
  1. No?

4 Yeah, see 1, above.

Kitmerow · 19/06/2020 15:18

@PicsInRed were all the recent protestors just one colour? If not, then how is this post racist?

Or is it because you feel it’s a dig at the BLM Movement? If so, again that’s not racist. It’s not compulsory to agree with the movement!

Kitmerow · 19/06/2020 15:22

Can someone please show me where the OP has specified the colour of protestors she is referring to? Thanks.

Hagisonthehill · 19/06/2020 15:28

You can test a many people as you like but if they have no symptoms then the test will come back negative.

Bourbonbiccy · 19/06/2020 18:41

Yes, I think anyone where a test would be effective, should be able to have one.

Yes, I think the BLM should be just as entitled to that as anyone, I think they stood up for and tried to bring awareness to a disgraceful injustice and prejudice that happens in our society.

The government needs to actually have a working track and trace system in place.

Until DC is fined and Rabb (walked into Parliament yesterday with his hand on another Minister's shoulder) , no other fines, can be issued.

This is massively important, you couldn't fine anyone until you issued fines to these people first.

Pixxie7 · 19/06/2020 22:33

Picsinred@ this is not a racist thread in anyway. There were people from all persuasions at the demonstrators.
I fully support BLM and admire the people who risked their own lives to stand up for what they believe in. Please read the thread again and tell me how it is racist in anyway.

Most of the protestors I know went into self-imposed quarantine for two weeks after the protest
yeah, course they did love

ShinyFootball · 20/06/2020 01:22

Weeellllll

A few posts ago a poster seemed to be 'concerned' about the BLM protesters but not the far right ones

The question of if it's big gatherings then what about the people crowding to beaches was met with hilarity.

So BLM protest = Corona bad
Far right protesters = silence
People crowding in other places = haha so what

Yep, feels pretty racist. Or at least heavily biased

Pixxie7 · 20/06/2020 03:58

I think you are trying to make this racist.
The BLM was attended by the far right as well, so they are included. There is no criticism made about the BLM demonstrations. As far as the beaches it’s a totally different situation.

OP posts:
ShinyFootball · 20/06/2020 13:13

The far right people came later.

BLM people stayed away according to the news as they knew the far right people would be looking for violence.

PP cited BLM and when asked about far right gave a nonsensical reply and then went quiet.

I'm not trying to make the thread anything. I have read the thread and my read is, racist or at least very biased.
