To only eat junk food (pregnancy)

Because it's all I seem to be able to stomach without feeling incredibly ill?

I am only early on in first tri (7wks). All I seem to be able to eat is shit. I can't stomach a full meal but I'm craving things like crisps.

Today I am ashamed to say I have eaten a whole MULTIPACK of crisps to myself. Like 8 bags of crisps. The saltier the better too.

I've also been craving tinned spaghetti like there is no tomorrow.

Did anyone else feel all they could keep down was junk food?

I read somewhere that the food you eat during pregnancy can have a direct effect on behaviour and intelligence throughout the child's life.I am on my fifth pregnancy and after I read about the behaviour part I changed my diet ! I would concentrate on a varied diet.. still eat the foods you want just add a salad or soup as a meal good luck

For the first 10 weeks all I ate was chip shop battered sausages, ice cold lemonade, cheese and onion crisps and lemon sherbert boiled sweets.

I lived opposite the chippy and the owner used to put 6 sausages in for me when they opened and phoned when they were done Grin Blush

Dd was 6lb 11, and would sell me for a lifetime supply of battered sausages!

The only thing I don't like about it is turning my wee pink. It will likely give me a heart attack when I forget I've eaten a load of beetroot

If you are actually throwing up, bear that in mind if it's shortly after eating beetroot.

It will get better - broccoli used to made me vomit , sausage rolls settled my stomach.

Come 2nd trimester you will feel better!

Many sympathies OP. I was travelling with DP with my first in a part of the country with great fish and oysters when I realised I couldn't face them or anything else. Lived on tomato juice and ice. Your body tells you what it needs and once you're over the nausea you can rack up the nutrients. Have a talk with your midwife though.

Eat what you want, when I was pregnant I practically lived on crisps and takeaways. Crisps are good for something quick to grab to help stop you feeling sick and takeaways first because I couldn't stomach cooking when the sickness was bad then in the later stages when I was huge and it was summer I would get too hot cooking so takeaways it was

Eat what you can and don’t worry about it. When I was pregnant with Dd1 I pretty much just ate biscuits and boiled sweets for the first 14 weeks, with the occasional tray of oven chips Blush

My 1st 12weeks consisted of

Ready salted crisps/Quavers
Fries/mashed potato/jacket potatoes
The odd mchicken sandwich
Nuggetts
Ice pops
I drank bottles upon bottles of flavoured water

Completely went off takeaways and any of my usual meals my nausea was horrific.
Eat whatever you can get into you that you want at that time

I mainly lived off chips, potatoes and crisps with my first for the first trimester as well. Once got a KFC deal with my husband one night after going to IKEA and really wanted some chicken but the sight of chicken on the bone made me feel sick but ate the chips.
I was so hungry as well some days. I woke and had to eat in the night as was hungry. Would eat a banana usually. Didnt last too long and started to feel better and not as hungry. Also loved ice lollies the whole pregnancy. Hmmm.

God you’ve brought me right back. 7 or 8 weeks. I was constantly queasy. I got on a train and munched my way through two bags of M&S combo mix and a bottle of Fanta. My body rejoiced. Grin

With DS1 I craved prawn cocktail crisps. Classy.

My ds was solely nourished on kebab shop pizza and Frey bentos pie in a tin until about 12 weeks, when I started craving much healthier food. Crack on, it probably won’t last. I met a woman recently who spent her whole pregnancy worrying about her weight. I think you just have to do what you have to do.

You have my sympathy. I’m surprised we didn’t name DS Ginsters with the number of Steak Bakes I ate. Keep trying to incorporate a bit of fruit and veg when you can but you know your limits. It’s only temporary so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Congratulations on your pregnancy

Screw it, whatever gets you through the day when you feel that bad. In both my pregnancies I could barely eat from about week 5 to week 20 then I had a couple of weeks where all I wanted was cheese, mostly on pizza!! When I felt better I made an effort with my diet.

I’m 11 weeks and I’m also obsessed with tinned spaghetti! In fact I’m lying in bed now trying to fight nausea and the only thing I think will help is spaghetti on toast. That and also Batchelors cheese and broccoli pasta (I don’t think it actually contains any broccoli!). Go with it I say! just try and take a pregnancy vitamin if you can!

I probably ate about 50 tubes of ready salted pringles in my first trimester! It does get better....until the reflux started and bump got bigger 😂😂

I've had five children, my diet was abysmal for the first fourteen weeks or so with all of them. Really awful, hardly any protein, beige carbs and sugar. Bleurgh. But it was all I could eat, so I did.
It usually gets better, I did every time and was back to healthy ish eating in the second trimester. Take your vitamins, drink water and try not to vomit.

HG sufferer here, literally lived of a packet of crisps a day, fizzy pop and the odd IV drip and it kept me alive.

I hate the advice that is given to pregnant women, we should always all be eating healthily if we can, but there seems to be a real guilt trip put on pregnant women and at the end of the day 9 months of eating crap in an 80 year lifespan isn’t going to do any harm to you or the baby.

Thanks all. Unfortunately the sickness has now well and truly kicked in and I've not even been able to keep the junk food down for the past 2 days Sad

Sickness is awful I had it with both mine and biscuits were my best friend. You eat what you can keep down as having something in your stomach definitely helps ease the sickness. One thing I found good was making my own ice lollies with fruit juice and eating frozen pineapple chunks. An ice cold fruit smoothie might be good if you can stomach it. I went vegetarian for the first 20 weeks with my first I could not stomach meat at all and the smell of a roasting chicken was unbearable. Try to take your vitamins if you can and don’t worry too much it’s the same for a lot of us whatever gets you through baby will be fine.

Just seen your update if you can’t keep anything down at all ring your GP I believe they can prescribe something to ease the sickness if necessary.
