To have given myself a fringe

It started just around fifteen minutes ago.
I was laying awake, too early to sleep, yet to late to be up at this hour - So, I did what anybody would do...
I listened to some fleetwood mac.
As I heard the beautiful voice of Stevie Nicks, I dreamt about my teenagehood for a moment, remembering how I always wanted such beautiful hair like hers - her fringe always seemed so effortless, yet I was never allowed to have it, kept from my cruel, cold hearted mother from ever expressing my inner-hippie.
So I did the unthinkable: I walked to the kitchen in a sleepy, bored daze, and grabbed a pair of scissors.
I angled the scissors, and with a quick snip, my hair was on the floor...
I looked.
In the mirror.
And oh, woe is me, words could not recreate the sound that came out of my mouth. Sad
Thin, greasy strips of hair plastered to my forehead, about three inches above my eyebrows, reminiscent of Emma Watsons pixie cut.
I was frozen, scared, horrified at the monster looking back at me in the mirror.
What do I do?
Somebody tell me, alleviate my fears and let me know that it will be okay, in a few weeks the hair will grow and I really will have a perfect 70s shag fringe, better than Stevie Nicks and just what fifteen year old me always wanted. Sad
Somebody, help!

My daughter wears a headband like this every day. You could hide your bangs with that.

To have given myself a fringe

I did the same a few weeks back (drunk).
I look like Joe Exotic.

I also have a cows lick so a fringe was never going to work.

I'm blow drying it to the side and pulling it hard every day ☹️

I have now vowed to grow my fringe FOREVER.

Dark times OP. I've done this before, never been so full of hope and emboldened and then shot down so quickly into despair in my life. Grin

A great many people have shit hair at the moment so I'd be grateful for that, and the fact they will for some time. Also what with not going out a great deal it will have likely grown out in time for norm life to resume.

See how it looks after a wash, style it into a decent shape with hair straighteners or try a side parting and sweep it to the side and try and clip it in maybe.

Blow dry it with a large round brush and spray the underside with dry shampoo to stop it splitting.

I like your writing style OP, it's awesome, it was like reading some kind of novel!
I'm sorry to hear about your fringe woes but I think you've received some good advice here. Take solace in the fact it will grow back and you will not be the only one in this situation during lockdown!
Good luck!

I just woke up and looked in the mirror - brushed my hair, it's now refusing to stay together! It's parted and sticking out Shock No headband, clips, or large hat seems to be able to fix this... Grin

Could you share a photo?

It could be a case of just leave it and grow it out. Or if it's too thin, fatten it up, blunt fringes have a bit of an edge on wispy fringes imo. Also - have you washed and blow dried?

It might not be that bad, I cut a fringe in over a decade ago, thought I'd made a huge mistake, cried myself to sleep, but it turned out it actually really suited me, just needed to be fuller, and clean, now it's the only thing I've got going for me.

Bless you for this thread, I needed a bit lighthearted humour today.
On a serious note, do not try to fix it yourself. Hairpins are your friends until you can see a hairdresser.
