Not the crazy fantasy one you need to win the lottery to have. The one that is a bit more realistic, more or less, maybe, kinda, perhaps one day, with a bit of luck Grin

Mine would be:

  • live in a house with a view of the sea, and a dining kitchen, grow herbs and veg in the garden and have a wildflower patch with loads of bees and butterflies
  • keep chickens
  • have a dog that I can take on long walks
  • work in a bookshop, preferably a small independent one (that also sold cake)
  • train as a yoga teacher on the side and maybe teach a bit as well
  • take every summer off and travel, as cheaply as possible, for a minimum of 2 months (someone would have to look after the dog and chickens I guess!)

Nothing outrageous or hugely exciting

-Have another child, I would like another, but I also want my son to experience having a sibling, but I know it is unlikely to happen
-Get married and stay married and happy
-Devote more time to rugby, then becoming a coach when I’m too old to play
-Work to secure a decent rugby welfare scheme
-Retire at 55 or be able to get a less stressful job

We’ve been fortunate but now our life focus is changing. We’ve enough material ‘things’; I don’t crave jewels or high fashion. If we want something we buy it, but I’m happy with a three year old Skoda, have enough clothes to last a good few years and don’t need many other purchases.
I now want my children to be settled in happy, loving relationships. I’d love grandchildren, if it is to be. That might mean increasing spending again though.
I want to travel more, before we’re too old with a mixture of quirky and interesting balanced with the odd touch of luxury.

Betty98 · 09/06/2020 21:55

Thanks @RedTravellingSocks my dog is a cavalier King Charles, I think he’s the perfect breed for a bookshop.

This is a lovely thread thank you. And some of the posts have made me very grateful for what my life looks like.

ILoveAnOwl · 09/06/2020 21:58

A new kitchen, a new bathroom, decorated hallway, a pet tortoise, chickens and to fit into my navy dress by my 40th.

Packingsoapandwater · 09/06/2020 22:10

I'd like a bit of land. An acre maybe.

But what I really dream of doing is setting up an folk orchestra where we perform old songs from Anatolia and the Levant, and we sing not only in Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Kurdish, Syrian Arabic etc, but also in English.

I think if people could understand the lyrics of some of those songs, they'd be blown away.

Not sure how achievable it is exactly.

FloreanFortescue · 09/06/2020 22:14

I have three.

To be a size 10.

To have a holiday home in Portugal.

To learn how to do interior design.

suchclearwater · 09/06/2020 22:15

For my children to be happy. A small flat in London. I'd like to have more friends.

Dinosauraddict · 09/06/2020 22:19
  1. To pay off mortgage and student loans (very slowly working on it)
  2. A UK holiday home with a sea view (working on it)
  3. My wonderful DH, DS and 3Ddogs
  4. Sugar gliders - I have always wanted sugar gliders...
  5. Better health Confused

Become a published author. Buy a second house in my hometown, by the sea. I have everything else I want. These are the last things I'm working towards!

eatyourcake · 09/06/2020 22:22

Own a yoga studio with a cafe that is near my home. I want to love my job. Have a daughter. Have sea view from my floor to ceiling windows. Live in a warm place, probably Spain, maybe Majorca. Have a big white house covered in pink flowers year round. Go for a swim every morning before breakfast. I think due to husband's job this is unlikely in the next decade or two, so we are looking to move to British seaside fairly soon instead. Visit my home country 3-4 times a year, do lots of hiking and camping all over Europe. Faraway holiday every year.. I want friends who live nearby, so tired of traveling an hour or two to meet up. I desperately want my lone wolf brother to come out of his shell and fall in love..

Bergerdog · 09/06/2020 22:24

Have a lovely house that I’m proud of.

Oh and I really want to qualify for crufts! Just the once so I can say we went.

Minniee · 09/06/2020 22:26

I want to live in a sunshiney place with mangos growing in my garden.

Perro · 10/06/2020 08:07

I am lucky enough have my dream home and life (except for £££ in the bank and mortgage paid off) but goals change, don’t they.

Now the dc are growing up, I would like to downsize to a quirky, 3 bed house with a small wraparound garden and and lots of big windows. It would be on the outskirts of a bustling semi rural town, somewhere like Alnwick. I’d work part time in a gallery and dh would work part time from home.
We would travel for several weeks each autumn (no school holiday prices) and take regular city breaks.

My dream is achievable if we spend the next ten years putting money aside.

PrimeraVez · 10/06/2020 08:47

Honestly, I don't know. I like my house, I like my social life, I like my career. My family are healthy and happy and financially we are very comfortable.

Does that mean I already have my 'dream' life? I'm not sure, I wouldn't say it's perfect, but there's no one thing that I think would really make it much better. Realise I'm very fortunate to be able to say that.

BadAlice · 10/06/2020 09:15

I have the country cottage (admittedly tiny) and garden with veg patch and chickens that I always dreamed of. I’d like to upgrade to a slightly bigger smallholding once we outgrow this house as a family. I live this village (hamlet?) so in an ideal world we’d be able to buy one of the bigger properties here but that seems a bit farfetched as they are much pricier.

I always imagined a dog too but the realities of toddler parenthood mean that one is on hold for a while.

We’d like to open a bike shop with a bike shop dog and a little cafe. Hopefully I’d be able to cut down my hours at work and mostly just run the shop/cafe. This is possibly doable in a few years.

I’d like to take a ‘gap year’ or at least an extended holiday with the kids to Central and South America.

Mammyloveswine · 10/06/2020 09:30

I want to live a big old Victorian terrace, with a dining room with french doors that open onto a landscaped small garden with a metal bistro set so I can enjoy a glass of wine in the garden on a night...

I want a roll top bath and a dressing room.

I want a red front door and a little path leading to it.

I want to be back in my size 10s (working on that atm!).

I'd love to be a florist (weird romantic notion I have 🤣).

I'd love to have a small holiday home to retreat to.

WowLucky · 10/06/2020 09:35

I want a small but perfectly formed detached house in a rural location close to amenities. I'm not at all sure that's vaguely achievable but I'm thinking of luxury penthouse flat layout, the kind of thing with superb quality fittings that really work to make the most of the space, but not in a block of flats, more like a cottage with a courtyard garden.

Mammyloveswine · 10/06/2020 09:37

Oh I'd also lobe a daughter but I am enjoying the fact that the baby stage is coming to an end...

MsMum1 · 10/06/2020 09:46

3 bed house in London, with big bay windows and Minton tiles leading to a big front door. (And a bloody bathroom upstairs....how I long for and upstairs bathroom when I need the toilet at 3am)

Enjoy my current job but wish I had one where I could utilise my skills more and get paid more.

More creative and skilled at gardening, diy, interior design.

MiniTheMinx · 10/06/2020 09:57

Perro Alnwick is stunning, lovely place.

I'd like to have finished a PhD so I can teach philosophy and politics. I want to corrupt the minds of the young!

I'm moving to my ideal town, it is old and quaint with a castle and lots of antique shops....but unfortunately the property is not dreamy. But it will do for now.

I work part time now, I plan to never work full time.

What would make it perfect is for DC to find their way and be on course to achieve their goals. They are in year 10 and 13 and this year has been a complete fuck up for them. I hope this doesn't impact them long term.

Mumski45 · 10/06/2020 16:19

Find a lovely plot of land that suits DH and my requirements (tricky as he is very fussy) build our own house on it with a guest suite for DD and DS's future families to come and visit.

Retrain as a bike mechanic and spend my days tinkering with bikes, cycling round the countryside and teaching my future grandchildren a love of cycling and the outdoors.

flirtygirl · 10/06/2020 17:13

2 or 3 more children.

A decent loving husband.

Same house I have now but 100 miles south where I used to live.

Motivation to do one of my many business ideas. I have lots of great ideas but lack motivation. I will eventually but I will work part time. I have no desire to be rich, only that all necessities and a few luxuries are met.
