First world question! Would you do this if 8 months pregnant?

Posting on here for quick responses mainly.

I'm 8 months pregnant and it's my birthday. I am very lucky and DH has prepared a lovely picnic. Would I be okay to eat a slice or two of iberico ham?? Or is this an absolute no-no? The NHS says charcuterie but not sure if it means processed sausage type meat as opposed to slices of iberico?

Also, would anyone consider drinking a small glass of champagne in my position? I haven't drunk anything so far in my pregnancy. Seems so close to the final hurdle now so wondering if I might...! I know opinions differ so just interested to hear views.

Ok thank you for all the opinions!

I can report that the picnic was delicious, complete with homemade birthday cake to finish. I indulged in a small glass of delicious (expensive) champagne - which non-alcoholic versions do not come close to btw @BlueGreenYellowRed - and I savoured it slowly over about 1.5 hours!

Going to retreat and wrap myself up in a ball of cotton wool for the next month.

Happy to see you enjoyed your picnic complete with Champers.

All those saying just another month.... what if OP plans to breastfeed. It is probably better to do it bow than then.

I'd eat the ham but wouldn't have the champagne.

Yeah, alcohol-free fizz is vile! Far, far too sweet, even the best-rated ones. I'm a massive wine-lover, have tried countless and never found one I would choose to go back to. I'd rather have water. We're all different but for me alcohol gives drinks flavour, it's not about getting drunk at all (if I wanted to get drunk I'd open a bottle of gin rather than savour a glass of wine!)

Glad you enjoyed OP! Grin

Can't comment on the meat as I don't know. As for the drink I would. But then again I drank throughout my pregnancy. Way less than usual and weaker drinks than usual. But I wasn't going 9 months without a drink (got no problems with alcohol I just enjoy a drink). Plus my mum drank and smoked as normal throughout all 3 of her pregnancies, my Nan the same during both of hers. And I know other people who have as well.

Ignorant bollocks.

FourPlasticRings · 04/06/2020 20:20

I wouldn't bother tbh. What's one more month?

grey12 · 05/06/2020 05:29

Maybe the ham would be ok. I wouldn't drink though. No more than a sip.

Think whether you would give that food/drink EVER to a 1/2 year old. Would you give them fast food? (I don't but...) maybe..... little glass of alcohol? No no!!!!
