Your career. What would you do differently if you had your time again?

Are you happy with how your work life has turned out? Or do you have any disappointments, would you do things differently in some way? I am very much behind in terms of any career. Combination of long term ill health, and poor choices made in panic trying to pay the bills etc.

I've now wrapped up a period of studying. I could go down several different avenues and feeling quite pressured to make good choices now as I don't have time on my side. I'm 35.

Looking for advice or tips how to make the most of my time from now on. Would be very interested to hear how others have navigated - if you have faced setbacks how you dealt with them, or conversely if you had a smooth ride what choices you made that helped.

@NeedToKnow101 and op here’s the link to the Career Coach.

By the way finding this inspiring from the ‘end of career’ path point of view. Mine has been successful and now not. At 57 pulling myself out of a decision gone wrong. It does not feel so ‘my fault’.

Honestly? I wouldn't have gone to university at 18.

A lot of law and accounting jobs stand to be AI-ed out of existence.

Not at the senior level, they don't!

I worked in X industry, which I enjoyed.
On my days off, I worked in another industry Y with friends.
My friend offered me a job in Y industry with training & profession.
I stayed in X the first job.
I've often wondered how my life would have changed if I had taken up the opportunity !

As it happens, I've enjoyed my original job & I've progressed over time.
I was made redundant once, but was able to get a similar job.
During lockdown I've been working from home & long term my job should still be in demand.

The job that I didn't choose, cannot be done from home

Overall, I believe that I made the right decision
Good salary
Some benefits, including paid sick, holiday, pension
Enjoyable
People ok
My current job has better work/life balance compared to when I was made redundant

I consider myself lucky to work in a job that I enjoy
Some of my friends have not been so lucky
