To ask if you've had a beauty treatment that was worth it?

Just that.

Have you had something done that was worth it, and why?

Could be teeth whitening, skin peel, fillets, Botox, or even cosmetic surgery?

Curious to see what has worked for others.

Microbladed eyebrows.
Botox.

Not a beauty treatment but Roacuttane, life changing.

Teeth whitening... my dentist made moulds of my teeth and I just put the bleach gel in & go for a nap whenever they need doing. Cost £250 about 10 years ago... again, worth every penny

I’m another one who went the dentist route and recommend that as an investment rather than anything online or over the counter because the mould of my own mouth makes the biggest difference.

Whenever I need to top up I get more of the gel from the dentist—not often, every few years or so—but use my own mould again. Makes a huge difference.

Also, lash extensions, especially with age, but again the key is to shop around. Find someone who can give you what you want. In my case, brown not black lashes (too heavy for my colouring), and individual lashes designed to look like I have great natural lashes rather than caterpillars on my eyelids.

Retinol oil at night, vitamin C oil by day. I use Medic8 from my amazing local salon and the results to my skin have been incredible.

To the poster who said electrolysis means you only have to worry about brows every few weeks I’d suggest you’re not getting your money’s worth. Properly done, electrolysis should mean you ought never worry about brows again after a full course.

I jad laser eye surfers when I was 21, had braces in my 20's, laser hair rmoval on my bikini line in my 20's too..

I'm now 38 and would like to get one of the at home hair removal things to do my underarms and ankles.

Quarantimespringclean · 03/06/2020 06:18

Proper dentist teeth whitening, Botox, ultratherapy, RF facials, lash extensions, blow drys - all worth the money.

Thread lift, cosmetician teeth whitening and skin peels - did nothing for me.

But the best ever treatment for me is microblading. It’s expensive and painful but it transforms my face and takes years off me. Luckily I had it topped up just before lockdown and now, even with my grown out hair and grey roots, I’m happy with what I see when I’m on a zoom call.

Under eye fillers. Got rid of my most of the darkness under my eyes. A lot of my family tell me they can only see a slight difference but to me, every time I look in the mirror I see a huge difference to something that got me down for so many years. I've bumped into people I've not seen in a long time and they've all noticed and said how much brighter I look.

@Guineapigbridge
You and me both!!! LOL

Ardnassa · 03/06/2020 08:27

Harley St dermatologist and regime.

Eyebrow threading at Blink.

Only things I currently do, but was booked in for tooth whitening before the pandemic hit.

Confrontayshunme · 03/06/2020 08:38

I don't think it counts as a beauty treatment as such, but once a year, I go on a retreat, totally alone for a week to a local place with a pool and lots of lovely gardens. All meals cooked for me, as much exercise, reading and spiritual refreshment as I need. My husband always says I come back glowing, and I feel great.

Bonzabaybee · 03/06/2020 08:42

@Quarantimespringclean

What did the ultratherapy and RF facials do?

Also - did the peels and thread lift really not make a difference?! What sort of peels did you get?

Great pics - you look great!

DoYourTitsHangLow · 03/06/2020 08:45

Keratin treatment on my hair - fab
Colour every 6 weeks (my grey roots are currently off the chart)
Botox
Fillers
Microneeding twice a year
Good Skincare inc retinol and SPF daily
Gel pedicure 4/5 times a year (never bother with my fingernails though)
Eyebrow and top lip wax every month

HMSSophie · 03/06/2020 08:49

Botox for lines around eyes. Took 5 years off me.

ErickBroch · 03/06/2020 08:59

My hair is done at a salon but is expensive = worth it
Botox on my forehead as I have horrendous deep lines between my brows without it (11s) = super worth it

Dillo10 · 03/06/2020 09:14

Breast implants - totally worth it at the time (I was 23) but now I am 32 and considering having them removed because I feel that most clothes look better on smaller chests

Botox - have had many time. Amazing but so addictive!

ManishaK · 03/06/2020 09:17

Laser treatment! best thing i did

LakeTittyHaHa · 03/06/2020 09:24

I had braces at 30 for my bottom teeth (one was actually overlapping and sticking out, looked awful) plus at home tooth whitening (with a kit bought from the dentist). It was a couple of thousand all told.

I also forked out several hundreds on skincare products and treatments (peels and red vein treatment) prior to my wedding. My skin had never looked so amazing! Sadly though I came off the pill to TTC and my skin went all hormonal so the amazing skin care stopped working for me!

Recently I’ve been having (prior to lockdown) a HydraFacial treatment. They basically ‘suck’ all the rubbish out of your pores with a little pen-like device. The results are instant and my skin looks amazing for weeks afterwards. I can’t wait for lockdown to be lifted so I can go get another one soon! It’s about £100 a session.

I’m breastfeeding atm but once baby is weaned I’m looking at having some Botox.

madcatladyforever · 03/06/2020 09:30

Yup quite a few:

Botox

Laser removal of a dark brown sum mark right under my eye that was very ugly.

Electrolysis of my eyebrows, they've looked fabulous for 20 years and I never have to pluck them.

Eyelash dyeing as my eyelashes are blond.

All of these procedures were under £100 a session.

madcatladyforever · 03/06/2020 09:31

Oh yes and teeth whitening at the dentists using trays, it was a bit pricy but your teeth get very yellow in your 50's so it was well worth it.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 03/06/2020 09:33

I've had a total body makeover, courtesy of my amazing personal trainer. It's probably not a 'beauty treatment' as such but I'm throwing it into the ring.

Was it worth it? Well .....was it? Grin

Poniesandgin · 03/06/2020 09:45

Lip fillers. Couldn’t be without them. I had lips so thin they disappeared when I spoke or smiled.

Oh and eyebrows. I normally get them waxed and dyed every 3 weeks and I’m really missing that!

CBaskin826 · 03/06/2020 09:46

Microblading! I was an over plucker in my teen years and my natural eyebrows were awful, off centre, no shape, I hated them and I hated having to fill them daily, I felt it looked really fake.. But the difference with Microblading is unbelievable. I'll be going back for my top up soon!

GoddamnGodBless · 03/06/2020 10:34

Yep. Fillers, botox, surgery (breasts + waist lipo + tummy tuck), nose job, acrylic nails, hair extensions, microblading, tretinoin, teeth whitening, lash extensions.

HaudMaDug · 03/06/2020 11:15

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace
Wow, your personal trainer has been worth every penny. Amazing legs and nowt wrong with your lovely face. Smile

13 years in and visit the same surgeon for botox 2x per year on forehead, 11s and crows feet.
Front 6 top teeth have been veneered since they were damaged when I was 12 (bike accident). Had to have them redone a few years ago now and love the look of my newer, finer teeth but they highlight how thin my top lip is. Might have to look into filling it.

B1rdbra1n · 03/06/2020 11:19

Nicelegs
fantastic work, well done👍
🤩🤩🤩

NuffingChora · 03/06/2020 11:25

Non-surgical rhinoplasty (done by someone who actually knows what they’re doing!!) is brilliant. Totally transformative.

happymummy12345 · 03/06/2020 11:36

The only things I get done are acrylic nails and eyebrow wax every two weeks.
Miss them both. Last appointment was Thursday 5th March, so 13 weeks ago tomorrow. Nails are still on and in good condition considering how long it's been. And for eyebrows I've been plucking to keep shape and remove strays, which I'm hating.
