Whichever way round I feel like.

MissMooMoo · 01/06/2020 19:56

I do the top first, don't pull the bottom one out and have never had water from the top go onto the bottom. I do the cutlery basket last.
Not sure how DH unloads as I'm never watching but he is terrible at loading! So much wasted space and lots of things don't clean properly.

BessMarvin · 01/06/2020 20:08

Bottom because of the water dripping issue.

Most bottom people are giving this reason.

Most top people are giving no reason. What's the reason for top first?

Bobbiepin · 01/06/2020 20:11

Both racks at the same time, to out away the things closest to the dishwasher (plates, bowls) then the things further away. Cutlery last unless DD is helping and she does that.

Paul72 · 01/06/2020 20:11

I'm sure most of us dream of having unlimited millions of pounds to spend. If I had such wealth I'd have two dishwashers.
Take clean stuff out, use it, put it in the other dishwasher, when one is empty and the other full; do a wash and start again. Pure heaven.
At the moment it tends to be take out what I need first.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/06/2020 20:12

Bottom first starting with the cutlery

Deelish75 · 01/06/2020 20:14

Bottom tray first, due to water dripping.

elgreco · 01/06/2020 20:17

Crap, now looking at replies, He actually says bottom first to avoid dripping. He says it is according to manufacturer's recommendation.

Can't empty dishwasher or post an AIBU properly.!

@BessMarvin I've always just started with the top so it's just a habit, no reason. I've actually just unloaded my dishwasher and I don't get this water that people say drips down.... All my dishes are dry.

isthismylifenow · 01/06/2020 20:20

Bottom rack first.

But if someone else is doing it, even better and I don't care how they do it, as long as they do.

It's the worst chore for me. And even more so in lockdown when it's in permanently

grapesofbath · 01/06/2020 20:22

Just empty it and then get on with your life! GrinGrinGrin

randomchap · 01/06/2020 20:23

If your DH insists on doing it one specific way, let him. Make it one of his jobs.

LadyFeliciaMontague · 01/06/2020 20:24

Definitely bottom.
It’s even in the booklet that it came with.

Soontobe60 · 01/06/2020 20:24

I've just checked my instructions, it says bottom tray first! If my DH complained about how I did it, I'd just leave it to him.

lowlandLucky · 01/06/2020 20:35

Bottom first or you will end up with water off the bottoms of glasses and cups all over the plates

Tsubasa1 · 01/06/2020 20:45

Top first. 100%

Moraxella · 01/06/2020 20:45

I do it cupboard by cupboard. Anything that belongs in a cupboard together - e.g. cooking utensils, then all cups, then all glasses, then all small plates, all big plates then all pans etc. Mix of top and bottom

BessMarvin · 01/06/2020 20:49

Do you not get water sitting in the top of the mugs (which is actually the underside of the bottom but is the top because they are upside down)? I realise that probably makes no sense!

FOJN · 01/06/2020 20:49

Bottom first for reasons already mentioned and because it's more efficient if you've already got dirty plates waiting to in, you can fill the dishwasher bottom up without getting clean stuff dirty. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone but me.

Sceptre86 · 01/06/2020 21:25

Bottomed tray because I put the cutlery away first

Timetospare · 01/06/2020 21:31

Why are you even doing it? Surely men’s work? Wink

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 01/06/2020 21:42

@Nottherealslimshady

Couldn't give a damn so long as it involves putting everything in the cupboard it belongs and not leaving it on the bloody countertop!
bloody this...or balancing the tupperware on the cooker to "air" cos you cannot be arsed to get a tea towel and wipe off the fucking drops.

we used to have a range and the times I'd come through thinking the house was on fire to find some lid or box melting like a fucking Dali clock over the hotplates are just too numerous to mention.

that stuff stinks for days too.... Angry

Khione · 01/06/2020 21:50

Bottom first but my next big purchase is going to be a second dishwasher - then just get out to use and repack into the other one. may occasionally have a few rarely used bits to put away between changes

wellerhugs5 · 01/06/2020 21:50

Bottom. Every time. 🤣 Don't get me started on the rows discussions about how to load the sodding thing...

randomsabreuse · 01/06/2020 22:23

Having 2 dishwashers is amazing! Just gone down to 1 following a house move and only having to put away the dregs and random stuff is so nice. Next house we own will have 2
