Bleeding from bottom sorry tmi

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 17:42

A few times recently I've noticed tiny spots of bright red blood when wiping. Tonight there was quite a bit more. Not loads but a noticeable amount. This has happened to me before a few years ago and I saw my GP who examined me and concluded it was piles - had painless bumps in that area since pregnancy - lovely. But no bleeding since so I didn't really worry. This has scared me a bit though. I'm only in my 30s but of course you always think the worst when you see something like that. My doctor is only doing telephone appointments at the minute and I think based on what happened before they would just say it's the piles again.

I don't have any other bowel issues - occasional mild IBS but nothing serious. No pain either. Can someone reassure me I'm freaking out a bit.

Bright red then usually just piles. Darker then is old blood that’s been inside for a while and I’d be more concerned about that.

BumpBundle · 01/06/2020 17:51

Almost definitely just piles

mdh2020 · 01/06/2020 17:52

Go to the doctor.

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 18:00

It is bright red and it i could easily get to doctors I would but it's very tricky atm

Bright red blood is rarely an issue and as you have had piles before it would seem to point to that. The other common and equally not an issue is a small fissure. If you have strained to go you sometimes get cracks which bleed (similar principle to cracks in the corner of your mouth).

I would get a phone appointment when you can just to check though as clearly we are not your medical professional.

Dollywilde · 01/06/2020 18:03

As everyone has said. Probably piles, but telephone consult with the GP to be sure. I wouldn’t be too worried Smile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/06/2020 18:05

Bright red could be piles, polyps or an anal fissure, but the only way to know for sure is to see the doctor, who might suggest an endoscopy - that is what happened to me, twice - and both times it was something innocent and nothing to worry about.

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 18:06

Thank you. Telephone consultations are still going ahead but with something like this I assumed I would need to be ahem examined for a diagnosis. I do have visible piles and have done for years but they rarely cause my any problems. No straining so don't think it's a fissure. Just odd how it has started again with no obvious cause.

whiteroseredrose · 01/06/2020 18:12

Please please get it checked. My lovely step mum had piles post DC so when it started again she assumed that's what it was. But it was not that, it was bowel cancer.

vikingwife · 01/06/2020 18:13

You don’t have any stinging ? Pain when passing ? Itching ? Pain in lower abdominal area ?

What is your stool like ? Hard to pass ?

Bright red is associated with anal fissures & haemarroids

Dark red is bleeding in the bowel & usually more cause for immediate concern

I recommend GP visit. If they think it is not haemms or fissure May send you to a gastroenterologist.

During lockdown was in hospital for several days with another bout of colitis & had intercusseption (sp?) few years ago so am well versed with bum problems

Having a dodgy vowel feels like some warped sign of maturity

vikingwife · 01/06/2020 18:13

*bowel not vowel Halo

vikingwife · 01/06/2020 18:15

Sorry to clarify a GP may refer you to have a colonoscopy if they feel you do not have fissure or haemmaroid.

As someone above mentioned do get it checked out as blood in stool or when passing can (not always ) be a sign of other more serious underlying problem

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 18:23

There is a bit of stinging and soreness right now. And occasionally I get twingey pains in my lower left abdominal area but I don't have any other serious or worrying symptoms. And I do have piles (diagnosed and visible!) but they are usually asymptomatic.

Stools are not usually hard to pass. So don't think it's a fissure. As I said it's happened before and I was seen at the time and GP just diagnosed piles and left it at that. No problems or bleeding since until the last few days.

2bazookas · 01/06/2020 18:26

Get yourself some pile cream OTC, and see if they go away.

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 18:30

@2bazookas can they just disappear? They've been there for years Blush but because they don't cause me any problems usually I've never really done anything about it

merrytombombadil · 01/06/2020 18:33

You should get checked out. But even old dark blood doesn't immediately mean the worst, so no need to terrify yourself. I had bleeding that I was convinced was bowel cancer - but turned out to be an easily treatable stomach ulcer.

handbagsatdawn33 · 01/06/2020 18:36

PLEASE GET EXAMINED.

My late DH didn't.

Proudboomer · 01/06/2020 18:37

Sorry but a bunch of random people on the internet are not going to be able to tell you if it is a harmless pile or colon cancer.

Make an appointment and see the doctor. The worst thing you could do is ignore it as you think or some random tells you it is probably piles.
It might be something completely harmless but it could also be a tumour.

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 18:39

Yes I will try and see a doctor when I can but due to the covid issues it's not as easy as usual to get an appointment. And I have been seen before for the same symptoms and was told then it was just piles. Maybe need to try and get a second opinion.

ECBC · 01/06/2020 18:45

See your GP, it may be more difficult than normal to see them but they are available. Please use them, not a bunch of non-medics on the internet. If it’s bothering you, it’s worth trying to get an appt

Ouchinmybehindahead · 01/06/2020 18:49

I had so much bleeding I was referred for a (non urgent) colonoscopy. Nothing found-not even piles! Bleeds so much sometimes the toilet water turns completely red. Consultant gave me laxatives. I’m not constipated.
My colonoscopy was only a couple of months ago, I had to wait 9 months for it.
Anyone know what I do now?

Definitely phone op. I hope you manage to get some satisfactory answers, it’s very worrying I know.

Ravenclawgirl · 01/06/2020 20:30

I had this four years ago. Didn't think much about it at first, then there was a lot more blood so I went to A and E, they kept me in overnight then decided it was diverticular disease and sent me home telling me to come back if it happened again. But only if there was significant blood loss. Two days later it happened again, but I didn't bother about going to the hospital for some hours. I had a massive haemorrhage at home and my family had to call an ambulance. If they hadn't arrived within 5 minutes I would have bled to death and it was touch and go for most of the night. They never found the cause, so if you're worried get medical advice.

Jellybelly15 · 01/06/2020 21:33

That sounds terrible @Ravenclawgirl and how frustrating that they never found a cause for such a big thing! I have never lost a lot of blood like that, only drops on the loo roll but it's still very frightening to see Sad

Obviously get it checked op but I wouldn’t freak out.

Last year my sister (who’s healthy and only 21) had sudden bright red bleeding in a fair amount (patches on toilet paper rather than spots). No piles/no other symptoms and out of the blue.

She obviously panicked and I took her to A&E. She had a load of tests and a thorough checkout and 6 hours later was discharged with a 🤷🏻‍♀️ ‘Sometimes things bleed, come back if it happens again’ diagnosis.

It hasn’t and she’s fine...follow up blood tests all clear too.

Anyway, not sure if that helps at all but it’s kind of reassuring in a way...scary but not necessarily a big deal, just something to keep an eye on. Very possibly the piles with you though.

peopleherearerightcunts · 01/06/2020 21:42

Have you tried pile cream? Do that but also call your GP.
It's probably the piles but you should check anyway.
