There is only my little boy, and rather then doing a weekly shop, I just do it every couple of days but under current circumstances I’ve been doing it weekly and don’t know if I’m overspending.

How much do you spend for your weekly shop? Any advice on saving money and maybe some healthy/tasty meal ideas?

At the moment, no idea as we don’t shop weekly (it’s more like a couple big orders a month from places like the farm shop or a wholesaler and maybe an online shop every 2-3 weeks). Under normal circumstances, I’d say it’s probably £200 a week for 4 of us. That includes a weekend’s worth of alcohol though and packed lunches for dh and I. I think that’s pretty above average though! We generally don’t have to worry about a budget so though we do meal plan, I just buy what I want. That’s pretty unusual compared to most though, but I think generally you tend to spend less overall doing one big weekly shop than every few days.

There are six of us in the house, all teenagers or adults. We're spending about £150 per week on the supermarket shop. We plan every meal and try to make use of offers. We don't drink much alcohol and we don't eat meat or fish.

Two adults here, £50-80 depending on whether I buy wine, washing powder etc.

We spend around £90 a week for me, my husband, two teenagers and two cats. It will go up soon though once we have another baby.
We do tend to meal plan e every week and shop once a week. I spend more if I go shopping every few days.

Try iceland op, great value and lots of choice. Don't need to be frozen. Free delivery after 35 quid spend.

Just DP and I and I spend around £100-£120 a week. I will say though that includes a lot of meat and veg as I low carb but also usually a couple of bottles of wine/prosecco and a load of snacks/junk for DP

In my house (5 adults at the moment) we are currently letting ds do the shop. Once a week. Normally touching £100 per week.

Prior to this, I'd do the shop at Aldi once a week and spend about £40.
However, now everyone is eating in all day, every day. I also seem to be paying for alcohol that hitherto would have been bought when they were 'out'. He's also less likely than me to refuse to buy something expensive, as I am the one paying .

Our 'treats' are also now included - so whereas we might have gone out for a meal or even a coffee and a cake, we can't do that at the moment, so can easily justify 'treating ourselves' with things being added to the shopping list that I didn't previously buy.

Lately, for 2 adults, we've been spending around £70-80, but that includes wine.

We tend to do 2 shops - Lidl or Tesco for the basics, Sainsburys or Waitrose for meat, cheese, fish etc. DP drops me off at one shop, goes and shops at the other, and comes back and picks me up.

We've come to the conclusion that Waitrose isn't expensive when you compare like with like, eg their Essentials mature cheddar is nicer than Tesco's Finest, their Essentials fish fingers are the only ones, apart from Birds Eye 100% cod that DP will eat, their cheapo crisps are really nice. And they do an offer on steak, where you get 3 packs of 2 steaks for £10. It's not as good as rump or ribeye, but for the money it's a really good deal.

Two adults, a dog, two cats and a kitten. About £80 a week from Morrisons.

I'm a single parent of a little boy too. I spend between £70-£80 a week including cleaning products, toiletries and alcohol. I shop at Asda and Aldi.

200 a week on a lot of snacks 12 beers and a million loafs of bread.

Normally about £200 a week, family of 5 (one a baby), no alcohol though and will have at least one takeaway. Mainly shop in Waitrose and sometimes some things from M&S but I haven't been there since lockdown.

Two adults, around £100 a week.

3 adults, 1 teen (15) we spend £130-£140 a week. We also have 2 cats and a dog. We do our weekly shop online with Tesco so 80 item limit. Yes we buy wine in this.

5 of us here and I am spending a lot more than anyone has posted so far. I shop via Ocado, m&s, riverford and farm shop. Decent food is not cheap but I could certainly spend less if I tried and wasn't worried about buying organic etc.

I’ve just done a shop on tesco for a week and it did include a lot of meat and cleaning products. I think I may try Iceland though as someone suggested! Xx

About £25 - £35 a week for two adults at Aldi. We do normally need a few little top ups during the week though

2 adults and an 18 month old. We spend about 100 quid at the minute but we have been spoiling ourselves a bit. Normally it's about 75. We normally shop between morrisons and lidl, but at the minute just morrisons. We cook a lot from scratch so no ready meals.

Myself and my 6 year old son and I go to Lidl to get the most and then Tesco/ Waitrose or Sainsbury’s to get the other stuff. I spend roughly £120 but that can easily last 2/3 weeks and every week I may do a top up. Top ups usually £20/30 max.

Approx £70 for two adults and an 11 month old.

Depends on whether you want to buy steak and raspberries, or mince and apples. The type of stuff you buy makes the most difference.

On a normal day- £100 a week. Family of 4
During a pandemic- £500 per week just on snacks!
No more like £150-200 per week at the minute

I used to do 25/30 per week in Aldi for me, 3yo and a baby, inc nappies, the odd box of formula for 1 feed per day, plus a cheap cat.
Now it's more like 80-100 per week in Morrisons, for family of 4 plus odd top ups of milk or bread as and when. Including alcohol and cleaning, might add extra treats.
